Contending for the faith

Faith is not culture. Christian faith is a trust established without regard to personal language, ethnicity, or rationality. It is not a set of rules, yet it is a kingdom with elementary steps. It is without geographical borders. Faith is grasping the proposition that God takes care of humanity’s capacity for failure and rebellion all by himself.

Once for all

The message of faith was delivered once for all time, and cannot be changed.

Dear friends, I wanted very much to write to you about the salvation we all share together. But I felt the need to write to you about something else: I want to encourage you to fight hard for the faith that God gave his holy people. God gave this faith once, and it is good for all time.

Jude 3

Guarding the vault

Fighting for the faith is not summed up in lifestyle we lead or fail to lead. Fighting for the faith brings us into the arena of guarding the treasures delivered the saints. It means being familiar with the treasures, being equipped to recognize counterfeits and deceptive claims.

Accuracy

The faith is not a multiple choice exam.  Neither the Holy Spirit nor the human writers were into speculation and cute fables. All the prophets (from Old Testament times to John the Baptist) were on the witness stand for Christ. This means that their written work is of lasting value – complete pardon and adoption – only to those who live in the last days. Despite our faith’s gentle paths and peaceful outcomes participating in the faith is fulltime warfare with its reward a maturing peace of mind.
