Life and death: straight priorities

We all know Christians who seem to be in a great hurry to get themselves right with God and broadcast their righteousness apart from the atoning sacrifice and life of Christ. The dilemma comes from our common poverty of innate eligibility and our abundance of unprincipled and unreliable solutions. All our work falls short. Neither the work we did before receiving our share of eternal life and the work we do now commends or accuses us to God. Christ pardoned us and gave us new occupations with reference to his great love. The work of faith, believing in Christ, is full and complete credit designed to bring us life.

Dead or alive?

The Christian is right with God. We are alive. We must reckon ourselves so. Christ’s death and resurrection are written to our account. To use the Passover imagery, we can say the destroying angel passes over our house the moment God sees our faith in the Lamb he provided.

For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. Rom 6:10, So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. Rom 6:11

Minor or mature

When one is a child one takes the easiest, nearest, and obvious path in line with our natural tendencies. The dilemma of our estrangement from God confronts us and the best we could do was cover with a vegetable parts. The solution God offered involved the life of a living entity whose skin serves to cover our open contradiction (private was public).

Since a regulation was violated in Eden one may think that regulations may correct the problem and give a sense of security, but there were no guarantees of perfect human compliance. God did not tell Adam and Eve what to do: he gave them coats. If one can convince oneself that all God wants is perfectly obedient servant-creatures or permanently juvenile children then it is easy to pick a set of rules and commit oneself to it. That, in any scenario, is not salvation, and it is not God’s highest initiative. Salvation means life from the dead for all humans, including the followers of Moses. No one gets away with following a few rules – from any source – and claiming to be whole.

Is the law then contrary to the promises of God? Certainly not! For if a law had been given that could give life, then righteousness would indeed be by the law. Galatians 3:21

Sometimes we zig

The days when we are allowed to come before God with corruptible things are over. Gold, silver, pots and pans, animal blood, food and drink belong to yesterday.

The human body is a living sacrifice for witness and service. Christ’s body was a priceless and spotless sacrifice.

Jews can say with certainty that they’re first. Muslims cannot. They can only claim to be the revision of ancient revelation, often taken from cunningly devised myths and traditions, and taken to abominable and terrifying levels.

Our works, no matter how noble, do not erase our debt of gratitude for the grace that rescued us and keeps us anchored in God.

How did we become a temple for the Holy Spirit in the first place? Did Paul, who introduced the body as temple, know that the exercise and diet were gospel? Were they really or is the health and diet movement a 19th century invention?

Can the following (Exodus 15:26) be a global recipe for a healthy population? Was that health explosion all together or one at a time?

And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.

The Sinai covenant produced neither physical fitness nor spiritual rightness. There is much to be said for the discipline of prohibited tasting and touching and there is certain justice for crossing the material lines of food, drink, personal interaction, ritual processes, priestly ministry.

All is vanity but some things are deliberately futile. Vanity – emptiness – is not an indication of active sin.

For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, Romans 8:19-20

Empty spots in life are the bedrock of hope. Zigging and zagging are natural to all creatures. Since none our ancestors, physical or spiritual, were natural owners of faith in God or fully complied with rudiments of the world let’s zig and zag our way with patience, full of hope

Let’s have a myth dump-ling

When Yeshua says “Keep commandments, he means subject yourself to the law.

Since the only way to please God is faith and the law does not belong with faith pride in the law of God is a dark cave.

But the law is not of faith, rather “The one who does them shall live by them”. Galatians 3:12

This cannot fit under any rug.

Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed. So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, Galatians 3:23-25

From prison to liberty

Saying that the guardian law is only ceremonial (irrelevant food and drink and festivals) is an inconvenient cover for the condemning prohibitions of the covenant.

God’s righteousness does not come with  ties to the law. The law and the prophets affirm this fact.

But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— Romans 3:21

There is only one way to bring an end to sin. Law – word, testimony, statutes, judgments, and commandments – are sin helpers as long as they do not say on request “I pardon you“.

The delusory saying in Psalm 119:11 is responsible for the emptiness of Jewish life and is now a convenient fig leaf for Christians.

Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.

Perhaps we have not noticed that Christ, as word living in the heart, does not stop sin.

Hang on

It would be worth nothing if all went well because we had turned back to the elementary practices of world: carnal ordinances, food, drink, and festivals.

Salvation is worth more than all other things combined. Let us hang on. Let us hold fast. The confession “Yeshua is Lord from the deaf” saved our lives. There is no deeper truth anywhere. This is the majesty and glory of God. Hang on.

Kingdom Kill-zone

When the kingdoms of earth come up in the judgment, and they will, for stewardship evaluation the powerful entities on the planet that assisted them will be surprised at the range of misdeeds that will be their undoing. The buck will be seen to have stopped with inhumane outrages of popular leaders, recognized tyrants, and monarchs.

There has not been a kingdom on the planet that has not been murdering in its own Citizens since the dawn of creation. Let us be aware that even priestly kingdoms depended on executions to keep people and society whole. The scene is shaped by children with weapons in the kill-zone of political power.

Let us pray that a good thing comes out of the furor over the disappearance of a Saudi journalist. We can pray that the hidden evil comes to light. Let us believe the improbable: the kingdom or Turkey will deliver the journalist alive.

The Rights We Give Up

Cannabis has been in the news with an innovative edge. The government of Canada has legislated that cannabis be available without penalty for recreational use by adults. This is a landmark move. The United States had arbitrarily put a plant on the list of banned substances and created decades of misery and oppression. Thousands of people have criminal records for using a plant that God designed for human happiness. Thousands have led productive and sustainable lives with both casual and regular use over those same decades. In an age when governments are forced to accede to popular propositions cannabis is now approved for medical and recreational use in many jurisdictions. While the US is mired in its bigoted federal opposition to a handful of states’ decriminalization Canada is set to break ground with federal legislation rolling out across the dominion in October 2018. The health concerns and plans to criminalize pot use have gone to ridiculous lengths to create a cash cow for governments and seek for a foothold to maliciously intimidate users.

God’s pot never needed a politician or a doctor

I will celebrate the non-criminal use of pot but not without a resolute SCREW YOU to the police, medical experts, and the religious bigots who think they have found respectively an excuse to intimidate innocent citizens with functional (not impairment or intoxication) roadside tests and extreme criminal penalties (hah!), a reason to prevent young people from abusing the plant (what produce or product have people not abused with government happily watching?), and a sin against God (for using one of his designated plants).

Medical professionals had 5 decades at least to be proactive and productive instead of joining with the biased police operative turned MP and floating a wide range of alarmist suppositions.

Religious people have been turning over the keys of spirituality to government with destructive effect in nearly every case. We have seen government taking over the lead on matters that have been the subject of divine revelation, and Christians especially will sell the shop for a few handouts of temporary fixes from the government, as if they can forget that every government will singe every religious backside in its drive to be supreme).

People know:

(the police are the last people we want with their finger on our well-being, they have not prevented the slide into violence-soaked neighbourhoods and members of the medical profession  have sold themselves to serve the golden calf of public safety)

  • Canada’s legal pot is not a recognition of 5 decades of despicable drug policy copied from the stiffnecked US. Where is the apology for terrorizing pot users?
  • Canada’s legal pot just happens to be a cop-inspired recognition of safety. (do NOT laugh)
  • Canada’s legal pot is a slap in God’s face. Cannabis sativa is not a human invention.
  • Canada’s legal pot delivery is a disgusting patchwork of White Anglo-Saxon bigotry.

I am sorry to say a demon may not have inspired the Canadian decrim law but the forces of evil and atheism seem to have a firm grip on the pot market and people-control factors.

There is too much sleight of hand and distraction in this national policy. I am not a fan of these modern Merlins
