March 25 2024 marks a turning point in international affairs towards honesty and truth, or maybe it is an opportunity for political advantage in the American presidential election.  Of course the Israeli ambassador comes out condemning the Security Council just before the Arab representation laid out, for the umpteenth time, in clear terms the context and recommended solutions.  The United States abstained from the vote and kept its veto sheathed.

Non-binding resolutions

People are tired of seeing the democratic process undermined by arms deals, tribalism and superpower machinations.  At the United Nations there has been a seemingly endless stream of resolutions supporting the organization’s charter go down in flames to the delight of the superpowers.  Today’s resolution may portend the end of  veto abuse and the beginning of non-binding resolutions waking up the consciences of government leaders from every political spectrum.
