Truly brilliant crap line
Line up here. One entire generation got labeled wicked (evil), adulterous and crooked by Yeshua. The same generation is called a brood of vipers by John the Baptist and Yeshua. It is curious that people in the twenty-first century who conduct their lives in the footsteps of the Lord’s contemporaries should think that they are pushing something other than brilliant crap. The ease with which people line up to make themselves look informed and conscientious with little evidence of either fundamental antiquity or lasting authenticity. If the fallout of corruption and failure that distinguishes the twentieth century does not awaken the conscience to the futility of making law and legislation the foundations of justice and honour then we may never realize that we are standing in a truly brilliant crap line.
For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.
Mark 8:38, NASB
The splendid unrecognized
The two things that should define believers in any age are the unshakeable foundation that is known as the gospel and the undeniable growth in grace or productivity in good works. These two fall by the wayside as believers pursue a host of reformational and corrective measures. People find themselves listening to proud religious morons and motivational speakers who more often than not have no interest in the original gospel or care about growing in grace and producing works that flow from Christ. It is lamentable and worthy of rebuke that leaders (elders, pastors, evangelists, prophets and preachers) are often trying to heal the church. They themselves apparently have not been healed, and in that case they are incapable of seeing that the church is not subject to failure, surrender, or loss. The extremes of death and the grave are ineffective. One can play the game of indignation, sincerity and dedication to our present truth chameleon for a lifetime. The God of the Bible will never be recognized by people who are less than diligent to read the Bible with a child’s simplicity and the glasses of a first century Greek reader and the closed eyes of a young prince of Judah in Babylonian exile.
Calling the shots
We hear the religious people trotting out their must-haves and quiver with horror, but we can let the response to Yeshua calling God his father instruct us. The Jewish people thought they had bread; they did not. They thought they had divine residence (shekinah); they did not. They thought they had light; they did not. The darkness that held 1st century Galilee in its grip was allowed to make the arrival of light all the more palpable. So when he said “no one comes to the father but by me” only the truly thoughtful and observant could swallow it. Yeshua was doing all the things that had been reserved for divine power. What else could he be but GOD? Even when Moses acknowledges that his instructions are not final there are millions of people who are not Jews standing in line hoping to be convinced by a New England Protestant reformer that a man who went around touching lepers, working on the Sabbath, and declaring the Levitical priesthood habitual profaners of the Sabbath is the role model for both Jewishness and the Abraham’s global family. Snap! Don’t clap. Here comes s’more crap!
But there will be no gloom for her who was in anguish. In the former time he brought into contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the latter time he has made glorious the way of the sea, the land beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations. Isa 9:1The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone. Isa 9:2
I will wager that if sunsets were hidden for a week not a soul could point out the holiness of a sabbath without a calendar or clock

Branded for ecology and simple pleasure
What are your favorite brands and why?
All the fruits with seeds have their hooks in me. I call them incomparable and inimitable. Popular brands I appreciate include Cosmic Crisp and Crispin apples, good to the last drop Maxwell House coffee, Twining’s Earl Grey black, and Beefeater gin, and the champagne in a shell, coconut water. Taste and little mystery makes them my favz.

Beware the static and circular prayer
Some prayers, suspected of being AI-generated, are unhinged traps. One recent video featured a prayer to be read in silence. It is three minutes long. Bearing in mind that Christ taught his disciples a prayer that takes less than a minute, and he himself, in crisis, prayed for three hours, and seemed to have spent whole nights in prayer, we realize that a three minute prayer is not problematic per se. It is the obvious inconsistent content that raises the alarm. We need to be alarmed if we are asking for things we most assuredly have and we are using thanksgiving as bitter up items (praises go up, blessings come down)
Ponder ponderously, but do not lie
Basic and de-prejudicing questions come in various “sizes”
- Does any believer need a new heart?
- What does Christ’s blood cover?
- Why did he die?
Emulating David’s prayer for a new heart is likely to be unfruitful. If you are at the place where you are convinced you need a new heart, you are unregenerate, not born again, and
People are so stuck on the Aaronic priesthood and so committed to proving its longevity they are willing to make Christ’s blood the solution for catastrophic finances, family feuds, immorality, journeys about to be taken. Can you say you have not heard it? I plead the blood …
The death of Christ has no associated controversy sorting out its meaning and its purpose: not about the day, not about the significance of Lamb as the identifier of the dying one, not about the relative value of God and all creation.
Leaving those essential questions we see the portions that ask for God to violate his operating plan.
- Can we send (or ask God to send)protecting angels to people who are not believers?
- How can I mention my sins and not mention the sins of all disciples (please forgive us our trespasses)?
- Can God refresh/renew a person’s spirit apart from their interaction with God’s word?
Healing of “past pains” is abject nonsense: is the pain gone or present? One has to recognize the futility of seeking a painless life? How many times have Christians prayed for all their relatives (or neighbours) to be free from disease or receive healing from debilitating and deadly medical, physical and psychological conditions.
How do God’s thoughts become ours and he remains uniquely God? Do we become divine when he shares his thoughts with us? How do God’s words become ours without us living by them?
What does closer to God mean when the Holy Spirit lives within us? Is the expressed desire to be “closer” some kind of covetousness of another person’s gifts and experiences?
Christ taught us to pray for common (our needs), so we should believe that “US” when uttered goes up to God from the indwelling Holy Spirit with the full list, for example, of (a) believers or (b) unbelievers (c) people related by blood [family] or even (d) workmates.
If prayers were working as Christ said then sadness, sickness, disease, catastrophic accidents and even the anxiety about threats to people’s well-being do not stand a chance. It only takes two people to agree in prayer.
You are free to believe that in 2000 years God has not seen two believers in prayerful agreement over growth in grace, rescue from emotional, physical, and psychological distress.
A prayer cannot be to Jesus and in Jesus’ name at the same time. One either prays to the Father or not pray at all. The Father is not “Jesus”. A lot of prayers lead us in futile circles, and leave no room for anyone to discern the answers. So spare yourself the aggravation of listening to pious prayers and pie-in-the-sky confessions.
