Netting mostly unreliable wisdom seems to occupy people who also repeatedly provide the evidence that they are immature and foolish. The most detailed and accurate prophecy comes from a man whose book the Jewish people remove from the collection of the prophets’ writings. Daniel was a broken man, not a vigilante, not of Israel’s priestly clan, and not a militant patriot. He served the king of Babylon as Yahweh ordered.
Solomon has no followers, broken or whole
By Mosaic standards the third king of Israel was an abysmal failure, even an embarrassment to the ultra righteous Pharisees. Still, the wisest of men has few detractors and, for a broken vessel, David’s son’s great works have no equal in the business that occupied his young mind.
Far be it from me to be what is decreed
- Hungry needing bread
- Sinful needing forgiveness
- Hurt and offering forgiveness
- Sick and need a physician
- Putting righteousness first and not seeking all this life gives
Who might God have used to carry the Message of the Serpent’s Crushed Head If not broken people? Does it seem negligible that the Israel who succeeded Jacob was profoundly deceived for about two decades of his life?
Everyone is broken, practically all the time, yet the crowd insists on a victorious life marked by healing and miraculous reversals. What grace is outshone by law? Is there a God who leaves sinners in charge of their rescue from the powers of darkness? I suppose the victories of the proof, exorcists and wonder workers blind them to the brokenness of the saints who are most happy and witnesses to great things. So what brokenness are people accepting these days when forgiveness is not a one-way street?
