Canadians go to the ballot box to elect the 44th parliament

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announces the Governor General’s dissolution of the 43rd parliament and the launch of the political race. September 20th is the next election day.

Look out for huge spending promises, groundless claims of accountability for the public purse, and a gut-wrenching array of moves to ensure Canada’s First Nations and all the oppressed minorities see an end to the erosion of their rights. Watch for religous interference and US style exploitation of the press and the right to free speech.

Canada will speak, and I pray it is a loud and clear message that Canada does not need to copy any nation in order to maintain its integrity. Get out and vote!

Just saying no is not against the vaccine

“No” no longer means “no” as long as a whataboutism is available. It is eyeopening that actively protesting mandatory procedures just became popular when our morality has revolved for centuries around an activity-free agenda.

Is that like a Black  motorist answering the question when pulled over by a cop?

The cop will either “serve” – (say this first) or oppress you. You won’t need to say the second. Things will unfold as programmed.

Where were these concerned citizens when our leaders over the last century were destroying young lives with copycat financial and drug polices. Since when did Caribbean thought leaders support human rights. I guess they can’t shake copying the use of a popular soundbyte, “projecting the rights of victims and oppressors”. What other mandated life-saving or lifestyle processes are they going to protest?

It is ominous development when an island state reports a peaking number of virus cases at this stage of the pandemic. Some regions of the world will suffer worse than Italy and the Brazil, not because of anti-vax sentiment and activism. Many more thousands are being sentenced by business-friendly politicians to death. They have been in a hurry to be “open for business” from the time the first measures against the virus were taken.

Hawaii has just reported upwards of 500 new cases, a record for the island state. If an isolated island can experience such a downturn where do crowded and connected jurisdictions like Los Angeles or Montreal stand?

Woe to those who think opening up for business with mere lipservice regard for virus control statistics is a humane policy.

Genocide is assumed to be the most heinous crime. I have always thought that Britain and Spain have to pay for the tribes they have made disappear. Some islands in the Caribbean have no First Nations left and those powers think they can just apologize and life goes on merrily. Kid us no more. The continuing disappearance of Canada’s First Nations women and children will not be adequately addressed if the Vatican apologizes to the First Nations of Canada and faces no day in court. Please, kid us no more!

The kidding about western or eastern goodness must end

Pol Pot, the PRC, a host of ancient empires, and all those kingdoms who have made large groups disappear without having to answer to the human collective have no lucky stars to thank. The modern homicidal ventures only get more press and no one but the utterly corrupt will find reasons to make genocide palatable. A day of reckoning is dawning. The sea is revealing its homicide secrets as predicted.

Our morality had better be consistent with the supreme powers of the justice of the cross. We had better work hard on this opportunity to love mercy, execute justice, and walk humbly. Governments will never be bastions of grace, mercy, and justice, but people who are can influence government to recognize that people – all people deserve a lot more dignity. What is going to happen in the Roman Catholic Church as a response to its involvement in genocidal activities is a matter for a more profound reflection on what it means to be servants of Light, champions of education and conscientious citizens contributing to solving social issues. Let’s pray and work for a brighter day. Kid us no more!

Twice elected as chairman of his party (1993 and 2005) and competitor in seven elections, the lame duck (caretaker) PM Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel is a striking figure.  He obviously likes being the strong man, posturing Israel as a democracy in an ocean of despots. His brash and bold juvenile moves were not enough after twelve his  years in power.  On the scale of lengthy reigns Bibi is a brash and bold baby whose goodbye will burn another hole in the Zionist dream.

There aren't enough terms in office for bad guys to get the job done.

His strength is that of a man who unleashes the Israeli military on a population of landlocked Gaza.  His vision of Israeli independence is either a joke or a nightmare of foreign domination.  Why else would he go to the United States for confirmation of the location of Israel’s capital?

Not even his alliance with Jewish parties espousing strict religious practices has made him a statesman or a roke model.  Netanyahu’s twelve years in the PM’s office is only a quarter Manasseh’s, the king of Israel with the most wicked record, who reigned for 55 years, beginnning when he was a mere twelve year old. 

But they did not listen, and Manasseh led them astray to do more evil than the nations had done whom the LORD destroyed before the people of Israel.

Netanyahu has faced four elections in two years and this shows that Israel, far from being a genuine democary, is just like Russia, India and Pakistan, holds elections to retain the label democratic and find support among the dedicated democracies of the west. The big red deagon, the People’s Republic of China does not even bother. 

Many in the west are afraid of saying the truth about Israel’s defiance of intarnational law.  It is as if Israel can do no wrong.  No state is getting better.  Israeli clocks stopped clicking a long time ago.  With the passage of time Israeli leaders get better at covering up their wickedness but keep straying further from the actual experiences that have been most beneficial.

Ephraim is another name for the northern part of Canaan, the kingdom of Israel. The Israelite kingdom was the first to feel God’s chastening rod by means of deportation. The southern kingdom, Judah, soon followed Israel into exile. Hosea, one of the late prophets, had a message about the “Israelite” kingdoms that is bolder than shocking. Whores go whoring, and Hosea saw it up close in his personal life and in the kingdoms. There is not a nice girl in the resume presented by the people who were in the room.

Prostitution in the Pentateuch was not a talking point about potential filth in the people’s psyche. God warned Israel about prostituting herself with the abominable practices of the Canaanite people, and he predicted that they would do so repeatedly.

Fleeting Goodness, Prophets and Priests

We can go only so far if we are satisfied with a wooly-eyed look at the popular story. God’s mercy does extend into eternity and we are aware that even a proverbial seven decades for us get our act together is more than adequate. We would be caught in a web of the spider who catches the unwary with a narrative of infinite cycles of apostasy and return (repentance). The popular line is that Israel-Judah has been through the cycle of estrangement, chastisement, and restoration. What is left can in no way be called a kingdom. When the judgments so often include death (as in the wilderness journeys, the enabling of enemy assaults and invasions, and hundreds of individuals executed by the government) there is not much to attach to infinite cycles of sin and restoration.

On one occasion Yahweh offered David options for punishment. David chose to be chastised by God rather than humans. This question – “what shall I do to you?” – is something different.

Here the prophet reports that Yahweh has a case to make about the value of his repeated corrective measures. It is obvious that there is no such thing as an endless cycle of spurn and return. One day the piper’s hand comes out, waiting for his pay. “What shall I do to you?” from Yahweh signals that the prescribed measures have not brought about the wellbeing everyone craved. The cutting down of the people by prophetic declarations and by His own decrees is the divine response to momentary goodness. Goodness in a prayer in the morning is like the dew. Goodness in a multitude of offerings is fleeting.

Prophets and priests transgress like humans

For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. But they like men have transgressed the covenant: there have they dealt treacherously against me.

Gilead is a city of them that work iniquity, and is polluted with blood. (Hosea 6:8) And as troops of robbers wait for a man, so the company of priests murder in the way by consent: for they commit lewdness. (Hosea 6:9)

Two places of opportunity were provided for the covenant to become at least expedient if not fulfilled: the sacrificial services and the medical practices of Gilead. There is supposed to a balm in Gilead (Jeremiah 8:22, 46:11, 51:8). Rather rather than burnt offerings there might have been mercy. We know who made the decisions about the worshipper’s expenses for sacrifices. Every sin by a priest (reported) required a bull. A ram might do, or two doves and two pigeons might suffice for a person with less means (Lev. 5:7). Why didn’t France, Germany, the UK or one of the Gulf states. Why didn’t the PRC have a role? We should not underestimate the tribal layers that matter in the Middle East. Just as Israelis may say “Palestinians and terrorists do not understand or respect our Jewishness” anyone in the Levant may say that westerners do not get his culture or social priorities.
