Necessary evils and other allied demons

This brief is not about demons or evil spirits.  How is it that Mr Netanyahu and the Israeli government can allow settlers to perpetrate  murders of Palestinian people, destruction of their homes, and countenance the plot to destroy the mosque on temple mount and not appreciate the Qatari government’s role in mediating one of the world most complex and persistent evils towards a conclusion?  Really Bibi?  There’s a spirit of self-serving righteousness and a readiness to do violence that allows people to think that the international order is too broken to benefit the oppressed and disenfranchised.  I’m sorry, I do not buy that.  Some evils and certain forms of misery are with us until the end of this age.

The frauds that straddle the borders in the Levant, Arab states, European and Asian countries are going to be adjudicated by the international Community

“Arise, O God, judge the earth! For it is You who possesses all the nations.”

Psalms 82:8, NASB

Schizophrenic Psalmist

You know that Psalm 119 is an acrostic, right?  Did you know the writer is a slippery eel? Of course not.  The writers can be forgiven for just saying what aligns and rhymes. He cannot say eight times “Teach me your statutes” and “Oh that my ways may be established To keep Your statutes!” (Psalms 119:5, NASB) and convince anyone that he has consistently kept the statutes.

Bring me back from the dead

Even more telling is the fact that he asks to be given life repeatedly and we have to conclude that he is dead. Quicken me, ζησον με, make me live, make me come alive, is a sinner’s cry, but a writer who is focused on making a creative song cannot be expected to write consistent theology.

Make me live is wholly consistent with being dead
