The old page turns

The new page of my blogging life is for my comfort and conscience. It should not be a surprise that people find strength in their polarity. Diversity and divergence are essential for what this blogger calls fun, but what is popular political and religious fun is an unambiguous wild rampage by people whose stage should be exclusively their shower and breakfast table. Many people are not accustomed to learning by asking questions. I have not wanted to answer questions, and many people are loath to ask certain questions.  That is why my destination is that patch of green grass where I bend low to talk to the minors and those ready to depart.

No more Mr Niceguy

I have steered clear of using my blog as a conversation portal. You may have noticed that the major purveyors of news and information quickly close the comment section after publishing their items or articles, for the simple reason that a flood of unhinged and uninformed comments will be posted, and will include the most despicable sentiments. In the current situation of public interaction we have powers that we attempting to muzzle the expression of people’s opinions, and use both the courts and extrajudicial means to obscure heterodox opinion. I have decided to toe one line, with no interest in giving an inch to the competing dogmas and cultural heritages.

To word 500

Pretty or disheveled, whatever your political or religious bent, you matter, and it is great that bloggers and readers are not necessarily acquaintances, because seeing what you look like, hearing your thoughts, may pressure us to contend, compare and compete.  It is remarkable to me that there is a thing between us that is so valuable to me that I am certain that change in any direction will be felt in diverse ways. Thanks for following my blog and for subscribing and let’s raise a glass to the next and necessary elevations on our journey.

Where I am going

People can be convinced of almost anything, given the right amount of time and the appropriate circumstances. In my field we are able to amass a massive amount of information, and a variety of sources to make a point.  Unlike a lot of colleagues across all the religions I let what I read speak to me with finality. Where my thoughts and attitudes settle is not subject to anyone’s opinion. Typically though, after hearing three or four opinions, most people end up just shrugging off any final answer or conclusion. That is a waste of energy and a sign of chameleonitis. If you land on a place where no one else agrees with you, everyone who knows you should respect that place. So I want to let “yes”  and “no”, my “yes yes” and my “no no” be the hallmark of my Life is Fun Blog, because as much as I want noone trampling on my pearls I will not trample on yours, seeing that I do not know them. Turn!

Wasted Xenophobic Years

“All the earth”, “all the people”, and “all the nations” are phrases we find intriguing because they appears as bright lights then disappear like used toilet paper. The legacy of Abraham and logical conclusion of the Solomonic dynasty are a stiff rebuke to all the religious contention, all the political camps, and all. The common pattern in politics, religion and human traits is the years wasted hating outsiders.

United Europe, Kingdom and States

The visionary and courageous George might be wondering over his wandering children, weeping over the blood spilt over (1) the love of money (unpaid servants), (2) the vanity of a pluralism that features two (count them, 2!) political parties and (3) a Christian coalition aimed at silencing the prayers of Jews, Hindus, Muslims and even Christians with whom they disagree.

Xenophobia is the target of the gospel’s truth

Since Christ is himself the truth we must assign to him at least two primary characteristics. The first is that, as truth, he is the one to whom we look for certainty. This shade of meaning comes from the Hebrew root amn, believe, verify, etc. The second characteristic which we must assign to Christ as truth is that he is the one who is in the open, no longer the mystery concealed (from the foundation of the world) because this is the nature of truth. Truth, to be accessed and applied, needs to be in the open It cannot be hidden, as is the case for a lot of the knowledge that exists as attractive among the major religions. There is always something hidden; always something in the secret place. Not so with the way of Christ. He is the truth right out in the open clear and without controversy.

Yet we have a deafening silence over what the Bible calls the truth of the gospel. All the books and digital broadcasts apparently do not know what the gospel’s truth is. They are, I am sure, going to keep calling wolves lambs and the dragon a lamb. Practically, they will keep pretending to have found revolutionary keys to sinless living when in fact they have neither spade nor trowel for discovering the treasures of God’s written messsge.

14) But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in the presence of all, If you, being a Jew, live like the Gentiles and not like the Jews, how is it that you compel the Gentiles to live like Jews? 15) We are Jews by nature and not sinners from among the Gentiles;

Gal. 2:14-15

Today’s gospel ministers are silent over xenophobia because they have not been convinced that Paul and Peter were in the upward way while people like James were still hateful name calling zealots pushing a Jew-Gentile split in the church.

You can joke about it but for the historical record, the United States, the United Kingdom and the exiled province of Judea have wasted respectively in excess of two hundred years, over four hundred years, and seventy years pursuing supremacist, colonial and xenophobic fantasies. Definitely not a joke!

Dangerous democratic divides

The following statement by a head of government reveals how diversity is the real threat to bogus democracy.

“Our political opponents’ deceptive, demonic agendas to fuel chaos and confusion will not be allowed to take root in this country.

We will resist their violent aggression and lawlessness to maintain peace and tranquility in our country.

Antigua & Barbuda will remain a safe and prosperous nation for all its citizens and residents.

We will not surrender to partisan thugs, posing as freedom fighters.”

Hon. Gaston Browne
August 9, 2021

I take it that labeling something as demonic opens the door to extending the label to its owners.  When that happens the labeler will have declared war outside the boundaries of law, creating hostilities where none may have existed.

Parsing “demonic” is not like parsing “lawful”.  Demons are never nice guys, are always on a mission of death,  theft, and destruction, and they cannot be expected to gravitate towards the truth. What is lawful today can be the basis for tomorrow’s apology or the step onto higher ground.  Death, theft, and destruction are present in every nation and in the long run are the symptoms of failure.

The Hon. gentleman is exaggerating the threat of public protest.  Public protest may not be the foundation of AGBDA society,  but our very existence as a free people will always be a strong rebuke to colonialism and oppression. The last thing a liberated people want are slippery slopes in law, welfare,  and security.  People pretending that they have found governing principles written in stone had better wake up.  Government has used violent methods to shut down cultural expressions, fearing that people might hear a call insurrection. The current  furor is due to the poor quality of the public discourse.
It seems to me that grammarians (small g deliberate) can be setting a better example, whether few or many are actually scribes.  There is expertise  that has the capacity to bring minds to reasonable grounds.  I for one am tired of the piecemeal treatment of the varied and, in my opinion,  vital components of a less emotional and more intelligent conversation.

Since the PM is on the record calling his opponents demonic he needs to bring out the exorcists.  Since he is on the record calling his opponents lawless it is curious that the opponents have not been apprehended and charged.  Violent assault is latent in the forces arrayed against all citizens, not in the citizens’ expression of their opinion  and protest.  Chaos is inherent in the wilderness of governments patterned after the colonial masters.

Sleep will continue to elude every leader who thinks that the need for change ended when they got elected or that no protest is a sign of utopia. The divide in democratic societies is becoming mre dangerous as leaders scramble to appear heroic and foundational at the same time.  Woe is me for buying partisan  politics as the fuel for generational change.
