What sweet-sounding bytes can anyone expect from the political idolatry base now that a stiff rebuke has come from the American people? I predict more of the same with increasing spiritual darkness characterizing the “message”. A great nation cannot survive on yesterday.

First of all, let us cut the fat. Judeo-Christian principles are not so sophisticated that we cannot say “Moses said” or “Christ said” and know with certainty that they can be on opposite sides of an issue. If a thing is Christian it has Christ as source. I have learned that the buck stops at Christ’s desk.
Where exactly is the Judeo-Christian contribution to the system of government that calls a 200k death count “what it is” and tries to remove health care coverage from the poor and middle class, and stacks the supreme court with right-wing neo-Nazis? Are people supposed to believe that supreme court justices only interpret the law and never break new ground? The fact that US law contains amendments tells us that it is not a monolith. It is a deceptive and idolatrous gambit to talk about simply interpreting the law as written.
We understand covenant and legislation well enough to reject the popular belief that any nation that has laws against theft, murder and covetousness is a moral entity.

Alaska, the land of the pioneering lover of freedom and independence, has little character and performance that is impressive. Its rugged beauty and spacious skies were not sufficient to create a haven or refuge for people loving daylight and a quiet and peaceful environment.

Any Jew, Aboriginal, Black, or person with an accent is at risk of losing life and limb for no crime at all. How many of us have been judged by Americans with the law in their hands we may never know but the sea will give up its dead in the exposé of the ages.

It does not help anyone to have law-enforcement operatives solving problems with fatal violence nor does having unscrupulous heads in the departments of state, justice, urban development and the executive mansion. All the democratic hedges have not prevented nations with sizable Christian populations from allowing Christianity has no official political preference.
Remembering Saul of Tarsus and the Risen Lamb who arrested him renders the error of putting anyone to death an utterly inconsistent refuge for an enlightened society.
Divided government is deliberate and foolish
The son of the defeated leader asks out loud where is the political party’s support when the leader is mounting lawsuits to fight his loss at the polls. If that thumb that tipped the scales of justice for four years through hundreds of opportunities to serve the American people and an impeachment trial has any magic left now is the time for its deployment.
Representative government fails because of partisanship
Failing to understand standing and falling as the bookends for human fellowship is responsible for fragmented neighbourhoods and disappointed generations. Divided homes, churches, provinces, and legislatures are exactly what result when humans imitate God without counting the cost. Divided interests and resources have catastrophic ends.

The political poop pool
If anyone has anything that can be a political construct for the human race it would be our Jewish brothers, and we see the facts about the application of any version of the Mosaic economy. It is not “written in stone” to declare its permanence, because we see its incapacity to prevent Israel’s descent into the lower regions of human badness, and its final subjection to Messiah. In the light of the assaults by Saul of Tarsus we remain vigilant against political constructs which can only reflect the contents of the pool. The fact that nothing happens without God’s permission or command should temper our support for governments that try to emulate Israel’s politics and protect us from jumping unprotected in the political poop pool.
Jurisprudence and grace
Let us be certain that we will not be discovering any kind of enduring political construction. The Bible does not lend itself to any political model. All the political systems of human history are tainted with human depravity and insensitivity. Western governance is decidedly not religious even though some systems have friendly stances towards religion. Christians cannot create a category for saved states. Christ did not die to save political entities, and states cannot adopt the virtues borne by the Holy Spirit. There is no such thing as a graceful court of justice. Individual judges and defendants may bend the state’s judgments (and processes) towards Christian virtues such as the fruit of the Spirit, and there is no requirement to acquit convicts.
Abusing our Freedom
Israel and the State of Utah have dared to build a society on the explicit and verbatim foundations of the either division of the Bible. Perhaps it would be good to remember that neither Israel nor the Church has any mission to duplicate itself around the globe.
The attempts to duplicate some of Israel’s historic landmarks is unproductive and destructive. Among them are:
- the call of Abraham
- his circumcision
- the Sinai Covenant
- the tabernacle, temple, and levitical system
- the kings of Israel and Judah
- the exile
- the restoration
- the lamb before the shearers
American daring and ingenuity are not in question and the right to migrate is powerfully attached to greatness.
Muzzling the liberty of believers
Many believers are vigorously engaged in politics as citizens and as civil servants and we have biblical evidence that God’s followers do so with both mindfulness of God’s standards for the state and individual and with great benefit to human and animals. It is a mighty leap to try to turn believers into convenient rubber stamps of government policy or even surrogates of political figures even when those policies and figure have Mosaic or Messianic values. The government operates without regard to the purpose of the law or the gospel and the deference the government deserves should not rise to the level of spiritual duty. Yeshua demonstrated conclusively how his followers should interact with government with a stunning example of being in custody.
Yeshua and Palestinian Power
He does not perform for government for officials.

63) Now the men who were holding Jesus in custody were mocking Him and beating Him, 64) and they blindfolded Him and were asking Him, saying, “Prophesy, who is the one who hit You?”

8) Now Herod was very glad when he saw Jesus; for he had wanted to see Him for a long time, because he had been hearing about Him and was hoping to see some sign performed by Him. 9) And he questioned Him at some length; but He answered him nothing.
His interaction with Herod is particularly instructive. The Roman authority, governor Pilate, tried passing the case of the man born to be king to local authority. Local authority was also Roman because Herod was neither of Saul’s family, nor David’s nor Omri’s. Herod was a Roman appointee. Get out your glasses, microscope and telescope: not one word came out of Yeshua as Herod questioned him.
Many of us have a lot of questions and a lot to say and much of it requires no answer because we demonstrate that we have neither authority nor relationship to heaven and the truth. US politics provides no stimulation of my intellect, it elicits profound disgust and passion. I reserve my passion for the word of God and music, two friends from whom i cannot be severed and who provide no terror.
Even the high priest and council hit a brick wall until the high priest”put Yeshua under oath”. The Christian leaders who press us to pledge allegiance or alliance to any government or state are the shrimp and pooper scoopers of our troubled times. This is not to deny exemplary citizenship and a conscientious participation in one’s society. Allegiance, loyalty and reverence have legs in both the sacred and secular worlds.

59) Now the chief priests and the whole Council kept trying to obtain false testimony against Jesus, so that they might put Him to death. 60) They did not find any, even though many false witnesses came forward. But later on two came forward, 61) and said, “This man stated, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and to rebuild it in three days.’” 62) The high priest stood up and said to Him, “Do You not answer? What is it that these men are testifying against You?” 63) But Jesus kept silent. The leaders who try to get their religious views to shape government policy are walking into a trap. When human wisdom tries to exalt itself to the supreme position these leaders and their followers will have a difficult time walking away from the stand they took for law and order as supreme.
There is no religion that we can safely embed in our government. The majesty and awe of the Sinai revelation Solomon’s inauguration of the temple are administrative gems in human history but neither inspires goodness, justice and mercy. They certainly do not bring unpretentious love or humility to the already profoundly polluted political poop pool.
Winning by a lot – just another lie from the golf course
It is reported that the golfer has stopped looking at the only process for confirming the people’s will in the 2020 election – the counting – yet he tweeted “I WON BY A LOT” or something like that. Truth be told, his crooked ways have apparently caught up with him and the warm truth of decency has closed the holes on him.

Civility and civic service returns with a humble resolution and I predict that the GOP will vomit all over itself trying out apologies for squandering 12 years legitimizing racial bigotry, deceit, and political conflict.

On the evening of November 5th potus45 pretended to be addressing the American people but he simply put his feet firmly in his mouth and attacked the very process he is depending on to protect him for another four years from the mountain of criminal charges that awaits him. Where were the Attorney General and (keep-Mr. PRESIDENT-honest) Vice President when such a cloud of deceit was pouring out of the chief executive?
Pity is due as 45 wriggles and writhes in the grip of the mighty boa of the American voter, and they are who the president should be concerned about. The more he wriggles the tighter the constrictor coils.
America needs a gunsmith
The cheering crowd in the roon was not expected to be sober or conscientous. A small cadre seems ever eager to applaud everything 45 says: spin, hype, misdirection, sheer ignorance or malice. Hopes that an experienced person like VP Pence might take a noble stand are nearly dashed, The alliance between Christians and the agenda of the fundamentalist evangelicals and extreme religious groups should have been reviewed and rebuked when 45 came down staircase badmouthing Mexicans and when he called for a ban on Muslim immigration. Gunsmiths are hard to find.
Expecting a corrupt and seriously indebted businessman to act in any principled way is like expecting our robber-shepherds to be either the hammer or the anvil God needs in finding application of His word. Jams are inevitable, but the only way to imagine that they are not accidents is to assume that 45 and his Christian allies are all closet enemies if Christ’s disciples.
Leaping off into desert waters
Sometimes reality leaps off the pages of the Bible and docks itself in the reader’s mind and agenda. When that happens it is an opportunity for the splendour of the living word to make sense and fill us with wonder at the same time. Simple trust flips everything into the realm of waters in the wilderness and streams in the desert.
Wide-eyed reverie
They will soar. They will run. They will walk. These are normal activities for birds, for fainting and powerless people. But who wants those labels?
Isaiah 35:5-6 is an eyeopening vista on what is in the works when comfort comes to town (chapter 40). There is a season for extreme intervention. Reality does not pass away because we do not read, do not want to hear or refuse to think soberly about our lives.
- Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened
- the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped
- the lame man leap as an hart
- the tongue of the dumb sing
This has got to be one of the best-crafted prophecies with Messianic reach. It connects people to the last and greatest prophet. It corners the reader with:
- FORGIVENESS OF SIN Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the Lord’s hand double for all her sins. (v2)
- SETS THE TIME BY UNIQUE MESSAGING. The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. (v3)
- REVERSALS OF CONDITIONS. Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain
- THE GLORY OF GOD. And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it. (Vs 5)
- THE FACTS THAT IDENTIFY HUMANITY. The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field: The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the Lord bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass. (Vs 6-7)
- EXALTS THE WORD OF GOD. The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever. (v8)
Streams in the desert are bound to start one leaping and the desert is bound to be unattractive.
