Disclaimer: After writing this article, I saw a YouTube item reporting a recent 911 call covering a cardiac arrest event for the aged  lRepublican Senator.  No ill-will towards Mr. McConnell should be imagined.

When God prepared to create a female for Adam he put the man into a deep sleep.   This sleep phenomenon appears again when Abraham receives the certification of his descendants’ Egyptian sojourn, bondage and departure. The deep sleep, the tardemah, is the means by which Yahweh delivered the certificate to Abraham (Genesis 15:13-16). The phenomenon appears again in the late history of Israel where a prophets speaks of it as an experience imposed by God on the nation.

For the Lord has poured over you a spirit of deep sleep, He has shut your eyes–the prophets; And He has covered your heads–the seers. (Isaiah 29:10, NASB)

It is a good thing that deep sleeps are available when monumental horizons beckon.  When persons like Mitch McConnell, GOP house leader (MAGA) Mike Johnson, Hegseth, Secretary of Defense, and the 47 president of the United States, not only fail to answer when called to do the nation’s business, but when they speak, their expressions are unrelated to the matters at hand.

Four walking dead

The president sleeps in plain sight when business is being transacted in his office, and he is active when the world sleeps.  Mitch McConnell is stuck in a loop of knowing where he is but never able to explain why, from time to time, he turns into a next-to-lifeless statue.  Hegseth needs intravenous alcohol inspiration to stay ahead of the well-trained and constitutionally loyal generals. One, we hoped, could not imagine a more stuporous America, but then the House Leader shows up, repeatedly turning off his brain to ride roughshod over parliamentary and time honoured  procedures in the House, and nodding vigorously to the president’s demented rants. The snores reverberate around the world.

Until America identifies itself as adamantly opposed to Nazism, a slave economy, the policies of Zionist Israel, and the ruthless ambition of China, the sleep will persist.  Tuck em in America. Tuck em in.  The world deserves better than the walking dead.
