Counselor to the king of Israel

Hah!

Who is JS? A hate mongering constitutional lawyer. He would not know what justice looks like as long as Yeshua the Messiah is in the picture..
I heard so much “Obama” and “God and Country” b******* from him and his crew that I just had to find other “Christian” programming.

That’s right. I stopped listening to WDCX, a Buffalo based radio station, before the 2016 election because of programs like Sekulo’s (and, I must confess, programs like the weeping pastor who has the skinny on the King James version as the original Bible).

The content of their issues was neither Christian nor Jewish and that was the first tip-off. These experts would defend Caiaphas and Annas and all those scribes and Pharisees who hounded Yeshua from the time he was born. They would also defend the persecutors of the church in Asia.

Do we suppose that Yeshua called his generation a brood snakes because he hated Jews? Oh no. Where the devil is there are snakes.

And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads seven diadems. His tail swept down a third of the stars of heaven and cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she bore her child he might devour it. She gave birth to a male child, one who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron, but her child was caught up to God and to his throne, Revelation of John 12:3-5

The devil and snakes gather up to kill a baby before it is born.

When Herod the king heard [that a king had been born], he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him;

[Mary, Joseph and baby Yeshua] fled to Egypt, and remained there until God signalled them, because …

Herod is about to search for the child, to destroy him. And he rose and took the child and his mother by night and departed to Egypt. Matthew 2:3

That’s the camp to which the religious right belongs, and their standing up for the unborn does not vindicate them. These same shepherds have been silent as police target and slaughter black people with impunity.

Their pro-life talking point is simply a smoke screen. Jay Sekulo and the religious right,
all the way back to the evil Jerry Fallwell, have been trying to make United States a theocracy. They have learned nothing from looking up the old Testament record and the even more graphic new Testament record of Jewish political interference. Neither Jewish law not the US constitution holds up under the seven eyes of the Lamb. The United States is not Israel.2. Not even close.

The road of secular government is littered with hush payments, bribes, nepotism, abd assassinations. All of the whispers of the counselors to the president, to senators and representatives will come to the light.

Hah! One cannot help but laugh.

The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying, Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us. He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision.

The Supreme Court and Infernal Injustice

What did we really think about the squeaky clean Judge Kavanaugh? I thought …

All the picks of the 45th president are tainted with misogyny, bigotry, greed, and prostitution (literally and figuratively) and a titanic white evangelical righteousness parrotism (the new TWERPs). The administration of the 45th president is on record as the least diverse.

Who dares think they can tell a victim of crime when to lay a charge and if to lay a charge. The GOP and #45 have convinced many oppressed people to say things are going well – “We’ve come a long way” they say – when in fact they are not. America’s First Nations and Black and poor people are still seeking justice from the courts and all courts are famous for two things: justice and injustice. The Judeo-Christian composite that western societies claim as the ideal (some say the foundation!) still looks more like the village mob dragging a woman out to be stoned for a two-person violation and like celebrating the entry into Canaan apart from recalling the death of the Exodus generation as faithless.

In the world’s supreme courts and in the small town sheriff’s office people have seen both the nobility and the trash of human aspirations. As the US deliberates the nomination of an alleged rapist to the supreme court we watch the spineless and amoral Republican representatives do everything except the decent thing.

The few words we will hear from Dr. Ford’s supporters will thoroughly expose the current supporters of the high court nominee as a den of injustice. Beyond the wall of shame and fear, beyond pushing for the feet of pharma-money (drugs and medical care) to be kept firmly on the neck of the American people, and beyond the support of the old froggy behaviour (Fascism, Nazism, oligarchy) Americans are going to be seeing in black and white, the face of injustice.

Kavanaugh and #45 have lots to hide. 90% of Kavanaugh’s work with the White House remains withheld. What could be more relevant to discovering Kavanaugh’s character than his collaboration with the White House just at the same time when the Moral Majority was crafting its plans to build a Christian caliphate?

We will see justice’s new face as a mob of cowardly senators put their cold hearts on the record again. Justice that takes long is not justice. Telling the police to stop shooting Black people is not justice. Justice is paying Black people for the work our ancestors did. Justice is telling the world at the UN that the slave trade is wrong. Justice is telling the American people that government has begun dismantling the secret societies and codes that have kept racism alive.

Still think we know what justice looks like? The pervading view is that governments dispense justice all the way to wielding the sword (punishment including executions) on God’s behalf. When Christians attach supremacy to the state’s justice apparatus they deny Christ his role as King, though all things are not yet fully subject to him. However, Christ’s justice finds no place in a Judeo model. The temple and its services tell us that atonement and forgiveness are available but it also shows us that (a) total cleanliness was not achieved (b) the means of atonement, animal blood was inadequate.

Two or three witnesses are sufficient to move the hand of justice and we have seen that without the perspective of God justice can turn out to be a shameful travesty. The blood of Abel and the blood of Zechariah spilt in the

That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar. Matthew 23:35

The reference is to the murder of a prophet.

And the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, which stood above the people, and said unto them, Thus saith God, Why transgress ye the commandments of the Lord, that ye cannot prosper? because ye have forsaken the Lord, he hath also forsaken you. And they conspired against him, and stoned him with stones at the commandment of the king in the court of the house of the Lord. 2 Chronicles 24:20-21

It was the solemn judgment of the supreme court in what was the best-endowed nation on the planet that a blameless and philanthropic individual should die for questioning and exposing a cruel and capitalist regime. This should give us pause when we evaluate the rulings of courts at any level. If we believe that there is no wickedness in the power halls of our times then we can end our campaign for the peace and satisfaction that Christ cane to bring.

Let’s hear our Saviour’s mother’s revolutionary views on justice before she had a change to experience the majesty of her son. This is inspired speech.

He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts; he has brought down the mighty from their thrones and exalted those of humble estate; he has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty. Luke 1:51-53

The devil in the details

The devil in the details is one of those sayings that people use to express their lack of faith in a proposition, or to cover up their conspiracy to thwart an initiative. The saying is also usd by people who genuinely cannot see the way forward and have evidence that an issue will face considerable challenges in coming into the light of day where the finger of God dominates the devil’s details.

Watching the UN wrestle the Syrian brat to the ground, while the Israeli bully rattles its sabres, one is moved by the raised skirts of the United States , who says the details have been the devil. No amount of Blessing America, no historical perspecive, no economic paradigm or or prediction can save the American nation from a catastrophic crash and burn. When one asks the historians and theologians about the failure of unity and prosperity to come to the streets of the nation one finds that there is quite a lot of devil in the details.

Main street is another expression that is used to mean the places where we should expect to meet the very ordinary and in one sense the pervasive characteristics of the nation. For example, on Main Street we see the hatred and disunity that the residents of High Street (the capitals and capitols) cover up. On Main Street we do not see the posturing that only whores do capitalism. The conflict about affordable health care for Americans is an example of the split between Main Street and High Streeet.

One can try to avoid the devil details but we are not allowed to blame the devil or a demon. We cannot even blame our parents and we dare not blame God. God could have made perfect robots to share his generosity and majestic things but he did not. We had better understand that being a perfectly performing beast is not what God wanted and that is why our problem is not sin: but monotonous and debilitating sameness, day in and day out.

If sin were a human problem (ours to commit and remit) then the Messianic Mission is a waste of time. Sin is God’s problem: only he can handle it. And look how he does it. All by himself. The devil in salvation’s details is that he saves us and we are safe even while we remain mortal and weak. The details can be scary, but when we ask for the details and encounter the devilish ones we should be sufficiently courageous to take the risk of seeing how mindboggling microscopic God’s control of life’s details can be.

If Yeshua’s words about the hairs on our head
and the camels we swallow are life what are ours?

Same What?

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Hebrews 13:8 NKJV

Same boss same fire department

Same what? Did he select 12 disciples 4000 thousand years ago. No. Did he cleanse lepers by touching them 5000 years ago? No. Did he die before he created the world? You know he did not.

So what is same about the anointed and salvation should appear in the whole bible. We have never seen a rescue from Death Row such as when the Lord said “neither do I condemn…” You can call that “same” but it is not.

Same person but a clearly different daygenda. People who are good at changing behavior and then claim to be the children of God are quick to say that God doesn’t change, doesn’t change what he’s doing. He does change what he’s doing. It is obvious. We have a cross, not two tablets of stone.

Just as we expected

The fingers of God are written into the American experience and the problem of keeping abreast of them is what is driving the circus and turmoil in the United States and fuelling beastly behaviour all over the globe. One has to suspect that there are sisters and brothers living in blissful ignorance of our daily news of our ballot boxes, hordes of civil servants, bigoted religious people, and mud-mired political class are mere toenails: clip and discard. The inability to think rightly grows out of a resistance to thinking. More precisely, God’s fingers allows bad people to rise to power and do bad things. He does not allow the minds of his people, the followers of Yeshua, to be victims of bad thinking. Since our minds and bodies need food. No-one can live by God’s words without being directly related to him. Indeed when the stars in our universes are obviously flawed individuals and sometimes one’s One can, as they did in New Testament times, take up the challenge of embracing a new regime without fear of sanction or rebuke or one can go allied with law and prophets, which is the same as Protestantism and Catholicism in bed, just as we expected.

Thoughts in the public arena

What matters is one’s business. Thoughts are private but we can hardly be expected to hide our good thoughts (about the past, present, and future) or resist telling others. The parables of the lost sheep, coin, and son, tell us about the imperative of telling others what has happened to us. What happened, is happening, and will happen are fair broadcasts, so are what might have happened, might be happening now, what might happen in the future are also all legit. It helps when our expectations do not crowd out the facts. Where we have come from and where we are now are not conflicting pieces of divine stuff we need to figure out and pull together. I think it is way better to be in expectation of the wonders of love and trust, and not being disappointed too deeply. So when we say “I think” it ought to soaked in caring about others, accountable for our relationships, and hold out hope’s flag. Better yet, think out loud. Do we dare? Hmmm.

New Regime Expected

Three prophecies in Luke’s gospel provide the Holy Spirit link between the Old and New Testaments. They occur before our Lord’s public ministry begins. They come through male and female witnesses. They say nothing about Moses, Sinai, and the Law. Each shows the expectation of something different than the Law and the prophets and far more satisfying.

Zechariah, father of John the Baptist, prophesies about being saved, mercy performed as promised, holy covenant remembered, oath remembered, John’s salvation-knowledge career, and he calls Christ the Visiting Honourable (=from on high?) Dayspring.

And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying, (Luke 1:67)

Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people, Luke 1:68 And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David; Luke 1:69 As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began: Luke 1:70 That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us; Luke 1:71 To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant; Luke 1:72 The oath which he sware to our father Abraham, Luke 1:73 That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, Luke 1:74 In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life. Luke 1:75 And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways; Luke 1:76 To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins, Luke 1:77 Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, Luke 1:78 To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. Luke 1:79

Elisabeth prophesies: Yeshua is her lord, Mary is blessed for believing, and God does what he promises.

And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: Luke 1:41 And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. Luke 1:42 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? Luke 1:43 For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. Luke 1:44 And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord. Luke 1:45

Mary sings: God as saviour is her exultation, he was well aware of Mary’s low estate, he did great things to her, his own arm is the show of strength, he dispenses with proud persons, he pulls down the mighty from their seats.

And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, Luke 1:46 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. Luke 1:47 For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. Luke 1:48 For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name. Luke 1:49 And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation. Luke 1:50 He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. Luke 1:51 He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. Luke 1:52 He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away. Luke 1:53 He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy; Luke 1:54

New Regime Received

Hear now how the Spirit witnesses to the fulfilled expectations. This is from an old guy. This is sober thinking out in the open. When Mary and Joseph bring the infant Messiah to the temple in Jerusalem for dedication (called purification due to holiness demands) the Spirit of God uses the occasion to connect the family with prophetic expectation.

And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord; Luke 2:22 (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;) Luke 2:23 And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons. Luke 2:24

Imagine the brisk trade at the temple for the sacrifices, the busyness of the priests and Levites, and all the travelling of pilgrims to the temple for childbirth, for the dedication of firstborns, offerings for cleansing after childbirth in Mary’s case, and you can see that this trip was a very big deal. They run into Simeon.

And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him. Luke 2:25

New regime Rejected

The people had three authority figure that were supposed to help with both official and social matters. These were the ruling priests, the elders, and the scribes. Their fingers are all over the many things our Lord suffered. This suffering is in addition to dying as sacrifice for sin.

These allies hounded the Lord from birth, and the secular powers of the Roman puppet monarchy also persecuted him. They knew what to expect. Their power was over interpreting the law and regulating the reverent sacrificial services. They knew how to launder money more than lightning up paths and lightening burdens.

Thee big shock was to come in the Lord’s words. He saw the coming events with clarity and commitment. He even revealed his “…great desire” to have that upcoming Passover, saying, “… “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer”. Luke 22:15b (actual words, With desire I have desired to eat…)

From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. Matt 16:21

Peter’s response to this appointment was “Absolutely no way this is happening to you”. He took Yeshua aside and began harassing (rebuke, ἐπιτιμᾶν , is present tense = he kept it up) the Lord. Imagine Peter taking Yeshua aside for a talking to. Oh my! This is a picture of him doing it every time he got a chance. He would pull Yeshua aside to affirm his view of Yeshua’s destiny. No death and resurrection.

Way off from you, lord, this thing shall never (from not not) be yours

Ἵλεώς σοι Κύριε, οὐ μὴ ἔσται σοι τοῦτο. Matt 16:22

hee-lay-OSE soy KOO-ree-ay, oo may ES-ta-ee soy TOO-taw

And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord! This shall never happen to you.” Matt 16:22 But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.” Matt 16:23

What are our expectations? Who are our allies? Are there things we say – when we think we are in the know about what Christ is up to – that are help and hindrance? Things of man are food, drink, dominion, occupation, exile, salvation, blessing. It makes no sense to be, from one day to another, condemned in the morning, justified in the evening. Which is a pretty lame expectation per se. The modern version of walking in the light begins with getting everything right. People should not say avoid traps like trust and obey for there is no other way. What happens when one does not obey is a far cry from what is the result of not trusting. The latter is dead. The former is forgiven and happy (blessed)

Salvation is such a great thing that it does make a person think what an amazing thing to bring because of sin, and only dead-beats will deny themselves God’s grace. According to many, eat and drink right are fundamentals, yet these have no place on the atonement scale. There was no treatment for violations of Israel’s eating and drinking (uncleanness not nutrition and not medical) code except for a gluttonous child.

What people say about what we say is far worse than we think.

Let us give the best and expect the best.
