Triumphalism and the abuse of faith

Putting the endless cycle of human life alongside faith and the invitation to ask God what(ever) we wish can lead to some debilitating outcomes.  It can  be demonstrated that God’s will includes human health and improvements to living standards but how does anyone explain the ravages of sickness and moral decay and the illusion of building victorious lives in temporal matters

Linking the certification of salvation with the certainty of rescue and relief is unproductive

  • Why is any Christian sick?  They’re human.  People are not sick because they’ve sinned.
  • How many sins constitute moral decay.  It seems that only some believers can keep sinning all their lives because “no one is perfect”.
  • Since it only takes the prayer of one righteous person to drastically change life conditions it would seem that God is not listening to the millions.

Certain abolition of the sacred

Light was not abolished when the sun set last evening.  Wickedness is not bliss because so many public figures embrace few virtues. Love was not extinguished when Christ’s beloved people crucified him.  The law was terminated when its mediator destroyed the sacred tablets and had to make the replacements.  Faith in God means saying “Amen” to what is on our plate until fear and dissatisfaction rises in our hearts.  If you have thought that getting answers to prayers that ask God to change our situation in life then perhaps eternal life is not dominant.  Perhaps there is no joy in the morning after.

But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. (Romans 8:37, NASB)

We are conquerors⁷ or “conquerors to the nth degree” is not the same as “we conquer”.  You can be a writer but you are not always writing.  You can be a teacher who sometimes learns.  You can be a conqueror who does many other things.

The sentence in Greek is not a copula (an expression linked by the verbs BE or BECOME) as Psalm 82:6 is in Hebrew, where the people are God’s.  People=gods.  The next verse (7) tells us what they do.  There is actually no verb TO BE in the verse.  The Hebrew text simply puts GODS and YOU side by side; “gods you”, elohim attem.

6) I said, “You are gods, And all of you are sons of the Most High. 7) “Nevertheless you will die like men and fall like….

It is quite certain that we do not know the difference between a thing and an activity, the difference between being a conqueror and conquering.  But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. (Romans 8:37, NASB).  What if our true victory in everything happening to us? It is obvious that fear, not love and faith motivates people who are eager to wear the badge of triumph over life’s essentials.

Famine and Fearmongering

The famine that has restructured our ideas about rights and privileges is now being complicated by attempts to reduce the pressures through massive violent campaigns.  It is a waste of time to trust in the expansion of European powers and the rise of new nations are signs of nobility and civic perfection.  Unity was never in the barn and the philanthropy everyone seems to want to put at the centre of their  thinking are mere clouds of deceptions. There is not going to be less insecurity and fear in the world, and the emergence of calls for justice is not a bandwagon for the fearful.

Now it came about in the days when the vigilantes governed, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of West Virginia in America went to sojourn in the land of England with his wife and his two sons.

Spoof of Ruth 1:1

Curfews (unrelated to the pandemic), troops deployed to dominate cities where protests are happening are heartless and foolish reactions.  They certainly have no right to be called policy.   America’s unfinished revolution keeps coming back to embarrass those of us who have a brain and a hope to live left.

Moabite Ruth became mama #1 in Bethlehem. That cannot happen in America or Britain.  God got his way in ancient Bethlehem because he softened the hearts of the people to accept foreigners.  Just look at America and the United Kingdom today.  They do not seem to be united except to oppress the poor and foreigners.

No shame attaches to the blindness of xenophobia, the idolizing of wealthy persons,  the rejection of science and theology.   Law and the love of money has taken over the thoughts and desires of people who would love to bd called God’s people and Christians.

Why was there a famine in the land where judges governed?

Guess who fears the Messianic message

Centuries of a caucasian Jesus, a mindless recitation of favorite Bible verses, the creation of a Judeo-Christian monster, and a fear of anything that gets too close to the apostles, is hunger enough.

Up in arms, smoke and mirrors

God might have made a covenant with one stipulation if simplicity was his goal, but neither he nor human beings are simple in any way. With water everywhere, influenced by the moon, not Jupiter, humans are constantly phishing for holy grail, that one key that will unlock the mysteries of life and death, infertility and productivity. Much of what we have actually unleashed is armed conflict, ritual smoke, and a maze of deceptive mirrors.

Neither us nor them

It is rare to find ourselves in the company of people who have a moral standard that exceeds the popular and familiar. Pharisee righteousness, believed to be a strict adherence to the Mosaic legacy, is discredited beyond repair. Xenophobia and misogyny have no attraction to an enlightened mind because they represent the juvenile stage of discovering God’s global agenda. You are barking up the wrong tree if you thought that God’s revelation had to do with a small group of people in a small nation in the middle East. God has shown that he is no bigot. Neither Israel, Judah, Syria, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, or any of the world-ruling powers have gotten away with fudging the roadmap of civic society. For many of these entities the national treasures are utter abominations. The closest thing to a competitor is the field of worship was the Samaritan tradition, the study of which reveals that God has no preference for either a Samaritan or a Jewish mountain.

Mountain talk is cheap

Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, an hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.

John 4:21

Teach us to read, do not tell us what to believe

We know full well who cannot be trusted. All all of the prophets were persecuted and assaulted by the people who say they know God. The the people who say they are God’s people are worse than farm animals when it comes to recognizing who is the master and owner. We also know who it is that we need to trust. Trusting in human beings has never worked out, so let the pastor, the rabbi, the imam, the guru and the cardinal be very silent when we begin to talk about reliability and trustworthiness.

Did God ever say “Let the women do without”? How much progress can the human race make without women?

The use of force to silence and control others is an affront to the essential ability with which God has endowed humanity. If our children have no choice in what to believe there is no personal integrity in sight. If morality has to be inspired by laws and punishment then we must conclude that grace is the neglected jewel. Rituals and festivals are mere shadows of the real goods that are in place for the human race. Things that go up in smoke are obviously not the basis for a relationship with the Lord of the Ages.

Mirrors that show bogus images

Is it the food and drink that turns you on? Is it the confession of obedience that gives seekers of God confidence? Who is so self-absorbed as to conclude that his ancestral lifestyle meets with God’s approval? Hopefully fewer and fewer of the rulers of the present age. These are the people who are always learning and never passing a test, who always have a byway into some mysterious alley. The age of revelation has never arrived for them despite 30+ books and dozens of bona fide witnesses. Anything they say is sure to be tainted with bogus information and self-righteousness.

6) Yet we do speak wisdom among those who are mature; a wisdom, however, not of this age nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away; 7) but we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory; 8) the wisdom which none of the rulers of this age has understood; for if they had understood it they would not have crucified the Lord of glory;

1 Corinthians 2:6-8

One quarter of believers are in no relationship with God or Christ. They are merely going through the motions of organized religion. Looking at one another for comfort and fulfillment they find nothing but deeper waterless pits. The mirrors they use are doctored to deny divine judgment and salvation.
