Success in life needs legs

How do you define success in life?

• Legacy
• Emptiness
• Grit

Success in life revolves around the awareness one embraces. An airplane stays aloft with airspeed.  Imbalance and balance are the reliable measures of progress.  Without legs we are immobile. With legs of continuity, genuine evaluation, and unshakable grit we last and stand out.

Success in life is personal and it comes from three areas of human existence.  It is a measure of movement.  It is a path we memorize and follow regardless of the time of year, month or day.

Legacy

Everything we absorb, consciously and subconsciously, are the inevitable shapers of our backbone.  Habits we imitate or choose contribute to our legacy, and if our ancestors could see our life-reel their interest would come down to how we carry their vision, mission and experience into the future.

Emptiness

Jesus proclaimed John the Baptist the greatest man of all time, yet John saw himself as an extinguishing lamp.  Self-evaluation may seem like a selfish pursuit, but what people say about you pales in comparison to what you think of yourself.  Self-evaluation may seem like hard work, but we do it without thinking, and when our active thinking comes on stream the things that last get prioritized.  Whether we are feasting or fasting, in company or alone, our success continues.  Only the sick experience healing.
You are who you are without being any of things that define you with every tick of the clock.  This is why John was great as he was decreasing and Jesus was increasing.

Grit

No struggle no achievement.  No pain no gain. No diligence no reward.  These are different ways of defining productivity.  The minute we give up being fruitful, mentally and physically, we lose everything.
When we pick up the threads of life day after day we exemplify endurance and grit.  We stick to procedures and practices either to hold the status quo or to advance to the next stage.

Do not mistake others’ gains as yours.
Do not pretend immunity from life.
You can only be an island for a moment.
