They can never fool us again

United states are expected to be  unstoppable agents of good for their people.  Having people unite around a cause is guaranteed to bring success. All the united republics, states and kingdoms, all the religious affiliations and sects, are struggling with societal failures and insurmountable crises.  We are beginning to question the honesty of people who declare themselves to be united.

Recognizing unity

What are the signs of a united people? Can unity be forged without conflict, oppression and exploitation? Can states like Nigeria ever be strong again? One would have thought that out of the forced unity of earthquake and disease that some semblance of solidarity might have emerged in Haiti. It seems like a together-bee is the last thing on the human agenda when Israel, forced to face the truth of its crimes against humanity, calls revenge massacres of Palestinian people a war. We have seen how well wars-to-end-all-wars end. We are not going to be fooled again by armed patriots and nationalists. The terror of marauding gangs in Israel or Haiti should not impress anyone. 

The smoke screens of unity

The religious undercurrent in American and Canadian politics is a disease with which we are familiar from our casual reading of Scripture. A united people are not constantly at war with insiders and outsiders. Homicides are a poor way to preserve liberty and livelihoods. Israel destroyed herself and so will all the united kingdoms, republics and federations.

We will definitely not allow ourselves to follow duct taped religion posing as God’s government.  We dismiss them out of hand.  Now, whether or not the churches and the powers that be succeed in putting on a show of success and near miraculous ingenuity we are convinced that they all crash on the rocks of human frailty. We will never again fall for superior commerce, bigotry, racism, domination of one’s neighbours and tyranny disguised as emergent democracy. Democracy running emergency powers is autocracy, dictatorship and misery for the masses. We refuse to be led by anyone not completely committed to Christ and human life.

The 45 jams again

On the evening of November 5th potus45 pretended to be addressing the American people but he simply put his feet firmly in his mouth and attacked the very process he is depending on to protect him for another four years from the mountain of criminal charges that awaits him. Where were the Attorney General and (keep-Mr. PRESIDENT-honest) Vice President when such a cloud of deceit was pouring out of the chief executive?

Pity is due as 45 wriggles and writhes in the grip of the mighty boa of the American voter, and they are who the president should be concerned about. The more he wriggles the tighter the constrictor coils.

America needs a gunsmith

The cheering crowd in the roon was not expected to be sober or conscientous. A small cadre seems ever eager to applaud everything 45 says: spin, hype, misdirection, sheer ignorance or malice. Hopes that an experienced person like VP Pence might take a noble stand are nearly dashed, The alliance between Christians and the agenda of the fundamentalist evangelicals and extreme religious groups should have been reviewed and rebuked when 45 came down staircase badmouthing Mexicans and when he called for a ban on Muslim immigration. Gunsmiths are hard to find.

Expecting a corrupt and seriously indebted businessman to act in any principled way is like expecting our robber-shepherds to be either the hammer or the anvil God needs in finding application of His word. Jams are inevitable, but the only way to imagine that they are not accidents is to assume that 45 and his Christian allies are all closet enemies if Christ’s disciples.

If one is interested in calculating the number that defines human beings there should be little delay.  The dominating powers in the eschaton are two satanic-powered beasts (Revelation 13).   Broadly speaking we can lodge those identities with governments and allied agencies.  They are egotistical tyrants.   They compel people to worship the devil on pain of death. 

A simple understanding of the beastly character is failure: in triplicate.  Human domains are three: sky, land and sea.  Compared to the Lamb with his seven horns, seven eyes, and a two-edged sword in his mouth.  The Lamb has authority over the living and the dead.  The beast and his enabling power, the devil, are on a murderous rampage.  The Lamb continues to demonstrate God’s commitment to give life to the dead.

The last shred of human rebellion

The last signs of human badness are on display in this beastly power and have been since the departure of the apostles. Surprisingly the efforts to corner and threaten earth’s population is aided by churches who are obsessed with unconditional aurhority and secular influence. They support the beast’s law and order interests, assuming that secular law and God’s will can be merged into a single regime. Whether the government has Hindu, Zoroastrian, Buddhist, Muslim, or Jewish foundations it will lack one thing. It will not have a supernatural head. A human head that is not divine is simply more of the same, only worse; more corrupt and deceitful.
