Incredibly this cry from Isaiah is the only sentence in the Hebrew scriptures containing a pairing of rise and shine.
Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you. Isa 60:1
Upgrades are ready!
It is an upgrade and reversal prophecy. The rising light brings the following surprises, reminiscent of Paul’s exhortation (Eph. 3:20-21) to be ready for God to provide answers that exceed our requests.
- Instead of bronze I will bring gold,
- and instead of iron I will bring silver;
- instead of wood, bronze,
- instead of stones, iron.
- I will make your overseers peace
- and your taskmasters righteousness. Isa 60:17
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, Eph 3:20 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Eph 3:21
