Comparing the effectiveness of the sacred texts with the natural world we have to admit that there are (1) plagues of illiteracy as a general rule and (2) incompetence and egoistic pride on the part of those who translate and interpret the message of the Bible. The messages from both have authority and we let them slip to our peril.

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
