Some of this passage from Luke is history: the churches were persecuted by Jewish powerbrokers and their followers. The disciples may not have given the evangelists their experiences of persecution but there are episodes that show the pattern. Yeshua knew what he was talking about when he predicted betrayal by family members.

Luke 21:13-19

13) It will lead to an opportunity for your testimony. 14) So make up your minds not to prepare beforehand to defend yourselves; 15) for I will give you utterance and wisdom which none of your opponents will be able to resist or refute. 16) But you will be betrayed even by parents and brothers and relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death, 17) and you will be hated by all because of My name. 18) Yet not a hair of your head will perish. 19) By your endurance you will gain your lives.

Luke 21:13-19

They will kill you but not a hair of your head will perish.

Jesus’s siblings urged him to go to Judea when they knew he was hiding out in Galilee while the Jews were seeking to assassinate him. Some of us today think that we can escape this kind of threat from home and community by being good citizens. Do not laugh. What did Jesus do for 3½ years?

Endtimes people have been coming up with ridiculous ideas since they murdered John. Lots of counterfeits and extreme claims of insight into the glorious Way are this minute robbing converts of an opportunity to be fruitful. So let’s not worry about our hair, health, or household. Death is facing some of us and hatred is facing all of us but we know and have death’s conqueror on our side
