Saturday May 9 | CHANGE |

Faith – CHANGE –  LIGHT; seeing constancy in transformation |

It makes no sense that growth and maturity beckon human life and there is an  overwhelming, conscious and perennial surge towards keeping things just the way they are.  When Abraham’s kids are not his kids, watch out.  Someone might depend on a timely miracle to correct the claims. In any case no-one should have to work that hard to be what God says they are.

and do not assume that you can say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father’; for I tell you that God is able, from these stones, to raise up children for Abraham. (Mat 3:9)

Hope – CHANGE – LIGHT; trusting renewal |

All that we do not have and long for are the targets of hope.  We have little control of the pipeline that connects us to our futures, but we are surrounded by unambiguous evidence of renewal and restoration. Among the mounds of evidence are hair that keeps growing, seeds that give way to seedlings, and seedlings that become to towering oaks. We do not need to sweat personal renewal

Love – CHANGE –  LIGHT; embracing adaptability |

If God can be light, shield, righteousness and redeemer, to name a few, why aren’t we whatever he says we are?  People tend to see adaptability within the scope of personal gratification.  Change is consistently resisted by the power brokers of our times.

Death – CHANGE – LIGHT; becoming Sabbath REST

Since the love of change has not been a human strength we have the grains of salt ready.  Joshua assured Israel that their solemn affirmation to serve Yahweh was not possible.  He has been proven right.  Rest that comes weekly is fleeting, and heeding the call of death is still the prescription for the human dilemma.

For to this end Christ died and lived again, that He might be Lord both of the dead and of the living. (Romans 14:9)
