Thunder whispering – LLC14

May 14 | Thu | VOX DEI |

Faith – VOX DEI – LIGHT; seeing divine word |

God’s voice can be soft or loud.  Its volume is not commensurate with his immensity.  He can shout and the ant hears, is not injured, and says “Amen”. God designed people with the capacity to see his word.

By faith we understand that the world has been created by the word of God so that what is seen has not been made out of things that are visible. (Heb 11:3)

Hope – VOX DEI – LIGHT; trusting utterance |

Having a strong attachment to imminent change does not necessarily yield the desired fruit. The wicked and the strong have hopes but their expectations fizzle

When a wicked person dies, his expectation will perish, And the hope of strong people perishes. (Pro 11:7)

The news cycle seems to point to worsening conditions and no relief on the horizon.  God predicted this very scenario, but the people who are suffering see light flooding into their tunnels.

For the needy will not always be forgotten, Nor the hope of the afflicted perish forever. (Psa 9:18)

Love – VOX DEI – LIGHT; embracing echo |

Once a person hears God’s word he is unlikely to unhear it.  God’s word carries life to the dead.  If we follow the oldest revelation of the  voice of God we see too that it brings light where there is darkness.  The dramatic nature of the encounter with God’s voice ensures that people keep hearing it and this repeat – the echoing of the voice in people’s minds – is one way the listener keeps his joy full.

Death – VOX DEI – LIGHT; becoming final word |

You must have been to a meeting where you could not wait for the end to come, so that when the vote for adjournment arises you finally breathe a sigh of relief. An adjournment vote cannot be discussed.  The last word has a unique profile. What Christ, on the cross, said had come to an end was final, and needed no spin. The cross is final and fully effective.  What he came to do was accomplished.

Saturday May 9 | CHANGE |

Faith – CHANGE –  LIGHT; seeing constancy in  |

It makes no sense that growth and maturity beckon human life and there is an  overwhelming, conscious and perennial surge towards keeping things just the way they are.  When Abraham’s kids are not his kids, watch out.  Someone migtransformationht depend on a timely miracle to corryect the claims. In 8 case no-one should have to work that hard to be what God says they are.

and do not assume that you can say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father’; for I tell you that God is able, from these stones, to raise up children for Abraham. (Mat 3:9)

Hope – CHANGE – LIGHT; trusting renewal |

All that we do not have and long for are the targets of hope.  We have little control of the pipeline that connects us to our futures, but we are surrounded by unambiguous evidence of renewal and restoration. Among the mounds of evidence are hair that keeps growing, seeds that give way to seedlings, and seedlings that become to towering oaks. We do not need to sweat personal renewal

Love – CHANGE –  LIGHT; embracing adaptability |

If God can be light, shield, righteousness and redeemer, to name a few, why aren’t we whatever he says we are?  People tend to see adaptability within the scope of personal gratification.  Change is consistently resisted by the power brokers of our times.

Death – CHANGE – LIGHT; becoming Sabbath REST

Since the love of change has not been a human strength we have the grains of salt ready.  Joshua assured Israel that their solemn affirmation to serve Yahweh was not possible.  He has been proven right.  Rest that comes weekly is fleeting, and heeding the call of death is still the prescription for the human dilemma.

For to this end Christ died and lived again, that He might be Lord both of the dead and of the living. (Romans 14:9)
