LIKING A HOLE IN THE HEAD

You may not have submitted your spiritual life to God’s way.  Just so we are not punching the air, we must say that God’s way is not the Law, nor is His way whatever readers choose.  The law and the prophets had their day: the law’s accomplishments are condemnation and terror while the prophets were broken vessels who did not know what we now know about what they wrote. The promise of Abraham’s inheritance of the future world did not come, will not be realized, through compliance of law, nor through fabulous inventions based on the law and prophets.  It does not take a lot of reading into the gospels to realize that the proponents of the law were hostile to the truth, loved a doublestandard, and wanted everyone who was naive, sufficiently coward or uninformed to join them in cherishing the hole their head.

For the promise to Abraham and his offspring that he would be heir of the world did not come through the law but through the righteousness of faith. Rom 4:13

For if it is the adherents of the law who are to be the heirs, faith is null auninfirmed or corward, nd the promise is void. Rom 4:14

Using the law to terrorize people was still happening in Paul’s days. We saw that graphically in the instances of mob justice in the gospels (Mt. 14:5, John 7:1, Luke 4:29, and John 8)

For the law brings wrath, but where there is no law there is no transgression. Rom 4:15

No law, no transgression does not allow us to conclude that there was no sin where there is no law. There is no law that says, “eat whatever you wish except one tree”. There was no law in eternity past that said “you die if you disobey me”, nor one before the garden of Eden that said “you shall not covet”. Paul assures us that “… sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law” (Rom 5:13), and that “Now the law came in to increase the trespass…”(Rom 5:20)

That is why it depends on faith, in order that the promise may rest on grace and be guaranteed to all his offspring—not only to the adherent of the law but also to the one who shares the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all, Rom 4:16

My righteousness is like Abraham’s: nothing to do with performance.

fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised. (Rom 4:21), That is why his faith was “counted to him as righteousness.” (Rom 4:22) But the words “it was counted to him” were not written for his sake alone, (Rom 4:23) but for ours also. It will be counted to us who believe in him who raised from the dead Jesus our Lord, (Rom 4:24)

Is yours? Or are you loving that hole the law has drilled into your head?

…evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. (2 Tim. 3:13)

I told you that you would die in your sins, for unless you believe that I am he you will die in your sins.” John 8:24

So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, John 8:31

All Dead Stuff

Its a sure deathtrap swallow the hook, but to what end does anyone want to swallow the line and the sinker? Christ had been busily converting people in Jerusalem, in Samaria, and outside of Israel, all the way to Antioch, when the Christians got thrown chum and a bit of live bait: submit to the Law of Moses and get circumcised.

The church with one voice said no to the law of Moses and yet found it gracious to respect – not adopt – dietary or ceremonial conventions of the law. That was the hook. The live bit was the recommendation that Christians get circumcised. Yeshua’s witness on diet and circumcision is unequivocal. It is not as if anyone had claimed that the Sinai covenant was permanent.

Things that Christ Eclipses

Unclean foods Matthew 15:11

It is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; this defiles a person.

If we are afraid of Pharisees we might recall that the Pharisees of NT times were not a concern.

Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit. Matthew 15:14

Temple centered worship. John 4:21

Jesus said to her, Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.

Levitical priesthood Hebrews 7:11

Now if perfection had been attainable through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people received the law), what further need would there have been for another priest to arise after the order of Melchizedek, rather than one named after the order of Aaron?

Who opposed this change?

For when there is a change in the priesthood, there is necessarily a change in the law as well. Hebrews 7:12

Tabernacle, ark, Sinai covenant, diet, and prohibited marriages all complete the list of things to be discarded so Christ can be preeminent.

Maturity and Childish Cheerleaders

We have always thought that the opposite of the opposite of love is hate but it seems that God has a different view. When John tells us that perfect love keeps driving out fear he’s on to something isn’t he?

Ultimately people want to interpret this to say that we are now mature or perfected. No one really arrives because they have God’s love. Love’s perfecting work is properly understood as an event plus the effects of that event.

As surely as the fear that love drives out is not the reverential fear of a son for a father or of an employee for the boss, the love in view is that unshakeable love that even the direst adversity does not change. God’s love not ours. It keeps driving out fear and our maturity is progressing.

The people stuck in the juvenile stage of divine instruction have lots to say about the adult stage, that is faith and the Gospel, but they keep cheering on Moses, slavery, and another gospel.

Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed. So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. Galatians 3:23-26

Testify Courageously

God has a testimony

If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, for this is the testimony of God that he has borne concerning his Son. 1 John 5:9

John suffered because of Jesus’ testimony

I, John, your brother and partner in the tribulation and the kingdom and the patient endurance that are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos on account of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. Revelation 1:9

The testimony about Christ was confirmed in all believers

even as the testimony about Christ was confirmed among you— 1 Corinthians 1:6

The persecution of the saints

Then the dragon became furious with the woman and went off to make war on the rest of her offspring, on those who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus. And he stood on the sand of the sea. Revelation 12:17

In our days, the early 21st century, the testimony of Jesus/Christ/God (a) is still being confirmed (b) is God’s witness to His Son and is the spiritual facet that gives us hooks into the gospel.

God is not in competition with organizations and things, which are all potential ideals. Christ’s witnesses are certified and sealed by the Holy Spirit.

Brownout for the Brit Brat

We have known for centuries that the European Union was destined to fail. Britons wanted to be both in and out – keeping the pound as their currency while benefiting from the common European currency. They are now out. Uncertainty hangs over the UK like a cloud of locusts.

The United Kingdom is not too special to fail. Ireland’s situation in the UK, at first a local festering wound, is now an international plague. United Kingdom is too perverted not to be exposed to the whole world as fractious and egomaniac. Brexit is the poster boy for sedition and supremacy. The Brexit tacticians are the dunces of our times. To think they can say “count me out but keep me in” is evidence of the British reverie.

The waves are swamping Britannia.

Slavery: “I’m home”

Disaster is the destiny of beasts. The four world-ruling empires and all the modern beasts have been responsible for the outbreak of homicides and genocidal policies and all kinds of injustice. Britons have been the agents of a great deal to interference.

Britons will not wake up from this nightmare.

Sin on the Rocks?

Are there 10 types of sin as in the decalogue? Are there two types of sin: against God and against humanity? If there are 10 or 2 what could have prevented us from arriving at the eradication of sin, especially when legislators are expected to make laws to prevent recurrence. Thankfully, those who face condemnation are in a prison of their own choice, a choice made even after the matter was settled by Christ at the cross.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the last 200 years or so for the believers, ordered up by the various church alliances and by unique fellowships has been a steady diet of “bigger, more, and better” propaganda. This phenomenon demonstrates that the prevailing interests are the continued oppression and insult of the people we ought to be helping. People are more scared, they are sicker and thoroughly deceived. Witness? The rose-colored spew.

Off the wall offence

The Lord’s table is an exercise of memory, and Scripture gives it no supernatural dimension. In recent memory I have witnessed the Communion service turned into an inoculation against physical death and medicine that heals the body. Now this kind of thing may not be happening in your circle, but I find it exceedingly offensive to the memory of the Saviour and a shocking witness to the shallow waters in which our colleagues in pastoral ministry are swimming.

No person can survive on a diet of what the churches are “selling”. Instead of the message of Christ that drives good things and changes lives we find a victory chant that is openly greedy, ruthless land selfish. Let’s face it: the love of money did open the floodgates of evil. Now that Solomon is a guide to spiritual life, money is a gift from God, to be loved and cherished, what legs dare we say we have?

Sin rules when one neglects the words of Christ

We can return to our first love: life before law and prophets. There is no life from the prophets and apostles or the host of miracle workers. All the mighty things those creatures have the capacity to do and say pale by comparison with the word and work of Yeshua. To him alone belongs salvation. The individual who fails to turn you over to God’s Son is an actor who cannot even read the lines. Yeshua did not merely try to correct silly concepts; he had something new to say and something new for everybody. Jews opposed him then (did not receive Him), and we stand today in the way of people who are coming to him with our imitation of Moses and the prophets, scribes and Pharisees.

A new diet is in order.

One cannot be on the rocks of Jesus’ sayings and be constantly talking about sin.

Knowing the difference between the words of Yeshua and the words of other people is where rightly dividing the word begins.

And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. Matthew 7:26

Hate Crime Rising

The vast majority of popular books are self-aggrandizing trashy fiction. For the longest while we have been hearing there’s a golden rule – love your neighbor as you love yourself – and this is all that God wants. Spare us that lipservice junk, please. God is more than that. Humans are capable of much more.

Haven’t we also been hearing that the greatest love is that a man lays down his life for his friends and the religious bigot in every religion says “Screw that too”.

That is why getting screwed is now the rising tide. The hate that’s in the human heart will keep rising until the cry rises, “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the King of the universe”.

Hate crimes are the badge of every proud tribe and the excuses we have been regaled with will most certainly add to the drowning that is near, whether or not we acknowledge that our houses (church, temple, synagogue, mosque etc.) are desolate dens of injustice.

Check your books at the door. Believe the message. Cry hosanna.
