Smell the cannabis you noses of love and justice

What exactly is canceled culture?  I’m not going to look it up,  but I guess it relates to people who think that whatever they have to say, whatever they have to contribute, must be accepted by everybody else.  People cannot say no to them.  People can’t say “Hey Buster. You’re done”.  Let’s face it some people are done.   There is no longer an empire named Babylon.  There is no Empire named Persia on this planet.   There’s no Empire name Greece.  It is over for world-ruling empires.  What is left of world empires is iron and dirt.  That is Rome today, and we can see where Rome  is heading today.  Exciting revelations are pouring out from Stanley Tucci explorations, so let us see if we can talk culture and cancel without getting trigger happy and loose tongued.  A neo-fascist Italy is not too far from the Rome that built London, and Rome had nothing to do with Washington, or the capitals of Texas, Florida, Michigan, or Arizona. Railing against cannabis is a rotting fish, and the justice sniffers are inoperative, because alcohol, annual killer of thousands, is a favorite of many politicians, one of whom promised citizens beer for a buck.

Make who great again?

If people do not read they can hardly call themselves civilized.  Ask the Iraqis and the Iranians about writing and progress.  There is no spin that can unseat the facts.  Ask the Germans, French and the British about empire and you will discover that watching reality TV and consuming hundreds of poisonous viral videos will end in soiled hands and pants with no water in sight.  Greatness is not an idea; it is the result of honest and courageous persons living where all men can see them.  If you have ever wondered why the 45th president of the United States steals documents, does his best to leave no trail of his communications, ask “Why does wax melt in the presence of a fire?” Who seriously wants Babylon Persia, Greece or Rome to be in charge of the global agenda again?

The gloves are off

America has gone from grand adventure to wild West, to an unending civil war and the theatre of  political games.  What else can a two party state be but a game of all fall down?  So they want to play with official opposition, well, there it is, and the house divided falls.  The readiness with which people deny that humanity contains a standard of goodness, even a potential goodness to one’s enemies is surprising and shameful.  The powerbrokers on one side of the aisles of power are equipping themselves to empty the government of the nation of basic welfare for all.

Serving justice has a new face

Why should using the law to permanently injure people for cannabis use be reversed?  Short answer: cannabis is neither a narcotic nor an intoxicant like alcohol.   Apart from the desire to have abundance (the love of money) we can see what makes siblings of Iran, the United States, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Israel, and the PRC.  Misogny.    If women, the lynchpin of human existence, can be the target of such a destructive attitude and program, we should not be surprised that racist and xenophobic mindsets also thrive in these places.

We can’t smell justice even right under our noses

These same states that are famous for concocting legislation that outlaws things that are perfectly legal can fool the gullible.    Ronald Reagan’s war on drugs was a verifiable red herring: it targeted black and brown people and ignored the use of synthetic chemicals by white people practically in the open.  Ronald Reagan and the GOP did not close a single bar or liquor store.  Yeshua and his apostles said nothing about what go ornament justice should look like, and no one wants to adopt Mosaic legislation wholesale.  Yeshua’s mother, on the other hand, was cogent and precise about what justice looks like.

And His mercy is upon generation after generation Toward those who fear Him. He has done mighty deeds with His arm; He has scattered those who were proud in the thoughts of their heart. He has brought down rulers from their thrones, And has exalted those who were humble. He has filled the hungry with good things; And sent away the rich empty-handed.

Luke 1:50-53, NASB

When you find a politician who is ready to scatter proud people, ready to bring down the rulers from their seats, ready to exalt the humble and the meek (basically the oppressed people), ready to fill the hungry with good things, and ready to send the rich people away empty-handed, give us a call then we’ll talk about real justice in the 21st century.

God told us, now Amnesty

Virulent racism and xenophobia in Israel are perennial nightmares, even when the victims are part of the family of Abraham (father of the Hebrew people), namely the family of Lot (Abraham’s nephew), and the family of Esau (twin brother to the man whose name the people and the land have inherited). Palestine is a fact, and everyone who lives there is Palestinian no matter what other name anyone acquires. People do not morph into another species because of where they live. Now that Amnesty International has published its findings of how non-Jewish Palestinians have fared in a nation whose law is globally recognized as central to morality.

Palestine is God’s chosen real estate

This comes down as a respected African American public figure speaks in ignorance about the attempted genocide of Jewish people, exposing the undercurrent in many communities. The facts are simply not circulating as extensively or vigorously as the misinformation. I have seen reference to the Palestinians as nobodies, people who merely call themselves by that name without a lock on any ancient people of the land. That only puts into clearer light the sentiment that foreigners can never be fully integrated into the Israelite (or Israeli) community. As long as Moses remains the sole authority in matters of history and identity that will be the case. Did not the rise of the Way (Christianity) successfully challenge the view that God has different strokes for non-Jews than he has for Jews? The prophets agree, and David in particular sings loudly, that the Holy City is a place for all humans, with pointed reference to Egypt, Babylon, Philistia, Tyre, and Ethiopia. Do we have to mention Ireland, Papua New Guinea, the American continent and the Caribbean island?

The wilful misbehaviour of the State of Israel is unmistakable when we see how the leaders of Jewish communities in North America sever their links with xenophobic foundations. Equality in modern societies may be often unrealized but it is a noble goal. Only the most depraved will keep up the narrative about superiority and resort to violence to maintain it. Women and children are not second class citizens, and citizenship can only be withheld for very specific class of criteria, to which ethnicity and nativity do not belong.

I am reading Amnesty’s report of Israeli apartheid and crimes against humanity because there is no nation that can place itself beyond scrutiny by appealing to a failed tradition. It is a big read. I would be pleasantly surprised if it changes my mind about our friends in Israel, Jew and Palestinian, or at least gives me reason to hope that goodness does triumph. We – Christian believers – the vast majority of evangelicals excluded – believe that justice running down like water is perhaps the most noble goal for rulers in all nations. Israel can deny all she wants, but the facts about walls, theft of land and destruction of homes, crushing curfews, covering up crimes in East Jerusalem, and assassinations will make her a laughingstock. The last laugh will be the Heavenly Father’s, and he insists that his king, established in Zion, deserves a kiss.

1) Why are the nations in an uproar And the peoples devising a vain thing? 2) The kings of the earth take their stand And the rulers take counsel together Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying, 3) “Let us tear their fetters apart And cast away their cords from us!” 4) He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them. 5) Then He will speak to them in His anger And terrify them in His fury, saying, 6) “But as for Me, I have installed My King Upon Zion, My holy mountain.” 7) “I will surely tell of the decree of the Lord: He said to Me, ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You. 8) ‘Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, And the very ends of the earth as Your possession.” (Psalms 2:1-8, NASB)

Why it is not funny

The greatest powers on earth might seem to have no mention in God’s road map, the Bible, but let’s face it, Syria, Iraq, Iran,  Lebanon, Russia and Egypt are all living witnesses to the movement of God’s agenda from antiquity. So where are China, Australia and the Caribbean?  The nations of Europe are in the record, but where are the United States and Canada?  Is it funny that Israel and the undisputed powerhouse of the modern era are often in the same room, eating the same dinner and no-one seems to be unravelling the outrageous homicidal behavior of the powers competing for dominance on the world stage? No.

The powers that have helped Israel with God’s stamp of approval are few. Though the Israelites kept running to Egypt for help it is Ethiopia, Syria and Persia that have been the helpers of Israel. Today’s Arabs will betray and attack Israel even as both parties invoke the name of Abraham. It is not funny. It is a deadly game of profit over the prophetic. God is not impressed by monuments, cowardly generals, and magnates. Poverty, misogyny, miscarriage of justice, and the crushing the visions of young people with deadly traditions is not funny.

Calling for peace with a knee on the neck of a helpless and vulnerable people is immoral in any country. God gets the last and decisive laugh and the blind now sees they all do it.

2) The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers take counsel together against the Lord and against his anointed, saying, 3) “Let us tear their fetters apart and cast away their cords from us!” 4) He who sits in the heavens laughs, the Lord scoffs at them.

(Psalms 2:2-4)

Not the worst country

Canada is not competing to be the bad boy, the sheriff, the virgin, or the Zion of the modern era. It seems that the democracies of our times have been trying desperately, with the help of cowardly religious groups and movements, to imitate the adventures of ancient nations, conquering, exploiting and oppressing peoples both near and far. I personally wish my head were a fountain to weep with the First Nations on Turtle Island. I do have a pair of feet, a pair of hands and one mouth. The depth of shame and disgrace that Christians have brought to this nation defies description. Standing with Canada’s First Nations is a long overdue measure this nation needs if can ever have an approach to healing. Make no mistake, everybody needs healing: the brave and the cowards, and the political parties need to consider packing up their rhetoric and get ready for a makeover. We are counting the unmarked graves of children who went to school and did not return home. Canada needs a vaccination with a strong dose humanity and it does not matter whether anyone evaluates us as the worst country on the planet. Justice calls for a strong rebuke of the responsible agencies: the churches, the licensing and governing authorities to do more than apologize and compensate our First Nations families. As far as I am concerned the Vatican, the police. and the political parties must pay. Then the rest of us must search our hearts for that evil streak that has allowed thousands of First Nations people to be missing and unaccounted for. We must demand the records of brutality against Canadians in police custody; a phenomenon that speaks of Canada being a very naughty country. There is no comfort in not being the worst country.

Justice is not a game for clever lawyers or political operatives. It is not the use of majorities in the legislatures to mount damaging campaigns in favour of big or small business. Justice is missing in action as long as we still have police officers who still think that their animus against young people, non-White persons is allowed. They and the rest of the administrative branches of government have not tasted the long arm of the law. This remains a stain on the record of governments we thought were humane and accountable. Apparently, most Canadians do not know what equity and service mean. We need the videos and records of police interactions with Black and Brown people. We also need a forensic analysis of what religious groups are teaching. If you think that is scary think about the fact that the disappearance of school children went unreported and unaddressed by church and government (of both political parties). Neither freedom of religion nor state religion prevent a country from being bad, worse or the worst.

Giggly Canadian justice

We have been saying that justice has a long arm and that the RCMP always gets its man (the violater of our laws), but justice in Canada makes some people happy, others laiugh out loud, and others giggle at how stupid we are. If we could defy gravity at will we could also evade the exposure of our despicable secrets. Time always tells, and hidden things will come to light, even the nasty plots in the highest councils of both the godly and the ungodly. We need to get ready for a huge dose of reality if the nation is going to deal with our genocidal history. Clergy and their allies will be expected to vomit all over themselves in their pride and zeal to defend their treasures. We are neither laughing nor giggling. Our tears are just too much. Not even the golden rule seemed to be in play!

I dare to say that church leaders (Protestant and Catholic) have been delusional in their view that justice is ultimately served by imprisonment, fines, and inhumane and merciless treatment of offenders and even of innocent people they do not like or deem as outsiders.

Let their treasures be our trash so we can move on. Let their zeal be a sick comedy. Let the Vatican and the cardinals show what they are really made of. Canadians will be interested in seeing whether they human or machines of blind loyalty and covetousness?

Schools that do no keep records?

It is abundantly clear that people posing as teachers of children had so little regard for our First Nations that they had nothing to say – NOTHING AT ALL – to the parents of the children whose corpses we are now discovering. A child murder atrocity must be punished. We are sure that apologies are insufficient. Maximum penalties must be applied impartially. When the whole nation – every province – commits itself to the remedies for this national tragedy we will have a reason to say something meaningful, graceful, and right about not being the worst country. Get ready for more revelations of evil, but that, to me, is an unprecedented opportunity to freshen up Canada. Freshen up, Canada.

Perverts in plain sight

43 individuals, all members of the Republican party, sworn to be impartial jurors, looked away as the evidence of their leader’s crimes and high misdemeanors came up for their scrutiny. For wanting to be known as the party that hears the cries of the unborn and seeing the future of jurisprudence as dependent on narrow minded judges the GOP just stripped itself of any credibility as representative of the people and judges of what is right or even factual. If the judgment they arrived at in the 2nd impeachment of the 45th president is shared by the people they represent the perverts can no longer hide.

You shall not distort justice; you shall not be partial, and you shall not take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and perverts the words of the righteous.

Deuteronomy 16:19

If anyone wanted conclusive evidence that both church and state in the United States have become disgraceful recall Mitch McConnell’s back to back vote of “not guilty” and serpentine blurb about 45’s indisputable crimes.

So what follows the cowardice of the 14%?

God is not listening to these brutes and neither should we. They cried fire and wolf when neither were a threat so we cannot expect them to be reliable watchmen when the accused arsonist and ravening wolf victimizes his own and is himself one of them.

If someone invites you to join a group of any kind you do well to ask about its ties to the Republican party and look for any affirmation of spiritual faith. The saying “All things are possible” cannot apply in situations where the factual does not receive top ranking. It is quite obvious that religious experience has gone sideways and ditch-wards.

Isaiah 1:15

“So when you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide My eyes from you; Yes, even though you multiply prayers, I will not listen. Your hands are covered with blood.

Vigilant against vigilantes

The wild west in United States of America history is a Satanic initiative. It is the natural outcome of poor character, the manifest destiny of thieves and robbers, and the undoing of a vision of Israelite-wannabes. You are so in favour of life that you think that a man can put semen into a woman without her permission and leave her no recourse to expel it and eliminate it’s effect. You think that guns in the hands of as many people as possible makes a nation secure. God does not approve of vigilantism. We condemn taking the law into our own hands from every quarter.

You are in popular but shameful company. People who want to kill innocent children are your heroes. Preachers and prophets who are dumb watchdogs, who have nothing to say to change racist and hateful words and practices (at home and abroad) are your heroes.

Since when does God want his will written on stone? Since when does God turn his administration of justice over to religious leaders? Both the Old Testament and New Testament are witnesses

In support of human life or death

When Muslims, Christians Jews profess the same readiness to ban, proscribe and execute violators of law who can deny that they are feeding the beast? These three groups love the label people of the book but they only want the notoriety of the designation and will have nothing to do with the central necessity for human life to thrive. Loving one’s neighbour is not a priority.

My observation is that religious and political leaders in 2019 all over the world have Donald Trump written on their foreheads and hands. They do not have the courage to distinguish Peter from James, a Benz from a Ford, God from man, condemnation from grace, or thief from shepherd.

You support the murder of Palestinians, Muslims, Jews and hope that noone notices that the United States and the United Kingdom are destined to betray the cosmopolitan destiny of Jerusalem, the city of God, and pursue their own prostitute’s vision of the world.

You want monuments to the Ten Commandments and you cannot even recognize your death in them. You think you can buy righteousness with your own filthy deeds and leave Abraham behind.

Vigilantees have the means to elevate Christ but choose to play the part of terrorist and disclose the soiled clothes and darkened imaginations of a Christ-rejecting generation.

See http://www.dannyshelton.com for a thorough view of the demonic majoring in minors and the terrorism of law as the peace that the world needs. These are the people who lie to their children about law and justice then expect them to see the virtue in Christ.

The devil in the details

Their arrival is not an accident. God wanted us to see them in infrared and ultraviolet light, and therefore inspired Paul to tag the phenomenon.

Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. 1 Timothy 4:1-3

Murder and rape are in the DNA of culture and religion. It needs to change. The authorities can put people into reservations and prisons but they have not yet successfully taken the truth out of God’s elect.

They answered him, Abraham is our father. Jesus said to them, If you were Abraham’s children, you would be doing the works Abraham did, but now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. This is not what Abraham did. John 8:39-40

If you are not this guy defined above tell yourself “how great is our God” to have separated me from the perishing.

Time to address the knee

Remembering George Floyd is more than an emotional experience.  The knee that killed our brother is part of a beast that sees itself as sovereign, which nations can be if God authorizes that status.  When they see the end of their misdeeds they blaspheme and become a lesson to the world of thick darkness and mental obesity.  Understanding the trading of Africans as slaves and their humiliation is the circumcision the world is afraid of.   Sometimes we hear people saying we should forgive the European powers and the United States and move on.  The sentiment comes from the core of the knee.  The knee tries desperately to rewrite history but time just ran out at this juncture in ways we could not foresee, which leads me to the conviction that the time to address the injustices of the so-called Judeo-C⁶hristian world has fully arrived.

Stalled for 230 years!

My head shakes involuntarily when I hear the silly MAGA slogan used by the bigot in the White House to dupe people into looking back for direction.  These are the people who do not understand the nature of their constitution: how it grows and yet keeps the nation on course is not a mystery.  Americans do not need to look to Europe or any other place for guidance in governance.  Christians need to look no further than Jesus and Paul to understand the sources of community conflict.  American history speaks for itself about the willingness to crush dissent and oppress because of jealousy.

They did set the bar – still a low-value metal – for humanity and intricate accountability and justice.  Every observer of modern history knows that America is not Israel – there is only one Israel – and that Americans quickly decided not to vault by hanging on to the marginalization of Black people.  It is like Israel at Sinai: “we will do whatever Yahweh says”, but pay homage to a golden calf as saviour.  America and its institutions, including many denominations, chose to act out in jealousy and pure rage: jealous of the melanin and outraged that Blacks had many more blessings beside the melanin.

Great legal systems have stalled on getting wealth for some parts of their domain, and if there were ships secretly ferrying Africans to poverty today they would proceed with God’s blessing.

The crushing chaos of church commerce

Let’s say we go to church to shop for miracles (knowing full well that they are always free of charge) and not to participate in mutual edification in the excellencies of God our Saviour, it is deceptive not to have a new name for our assembly.  That kind of assembly, for its lack of intelligent and honest participation and for the commerce we think it is, is no longer church in the same way that the Sadducees turned the temple into a place of merchandizing.  It has become a knee on our neck.

Instead of prayers to which we can say amen we are being asked to give the nod to hollow decrees and irrelevant slogans which build neither faith, hope or love.  We can always expect the merchants of magical moments, banquets and devotional books to keep saying they are having a church experience.  We know they are not.  We have to find new words to describe what has become of the great American enterprise.  The church is known for its grace and the secular powers for their law and order regimes.  Isn’t that the thing that sets the levitical kingdom apart from the church?

Knee on our neck

How the knee shows up

  • Lies we identify at first sight
  • Freedom that entails loss of dignity
  • Power practiced as domination
  • Love is realized in perfect compliance
  • New means more of the same

The knee stands for staking a claim where millennial communities were flourishing.   It stands for turning Jesus into a disciple of Moses.  It stands for stifling the dreams of the next generation.   It stands for loyalty displays without a grain of confidence in the symbols that represent the ideals.

Get the knee a new pair of ears

We can close our ears to the truth but it will catch up with us.   The things we say we will defend to the death should involve our own death to the crooked generation that brought us the separation of church and state, righteous nazism, and the televangelist.

America and Europe have not been listening to its geniuses.  They have become roadblocks to their stated destinies. They forget their meagre and late beginnings and act as if they were always prosperous and influential.   Most disturbing is the fact that successive generations of young people have been duped into a sense of maturity based on computer and web savvy, deceived by eastern mysticism, convinced to follow shallow political ideologies, and a paradoxical spirituality, and left exposed to gun violence directed at schools.  The knee is not listening.

This time the people must force the knee to listen

There will not be a Judeo-Christian beacon on any  hill.  That is an utterly schizophrenic concoction designed to nauseate God.  He has been known to vomit.  Since it was not possible for Judeo and Christian strains to combine in the land where both have their roots we should not expect a composite of the two to thrive anywhere.   Looking back to ones roots can be an orienting experience but it can also lead to a pride in the beginning with no view towards growth in the direction of a mature society.  When  Christians look back our eyes get glued to the cross. We are not looking back to a mere event or festival.  We look back to the intervention of God in our world  planned from before the world was made.

For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

1 Cor. 3:11

What they said about Israel-Judah appears in the church

THE KNEE OF ANTIQUITY- sacred and secular

26) Her priests have done violence to My law and have profaned My holy things; they have made no distinction between the holy and the profane, and they have not taught the difference between the unclean and the clean; and they hide their eyes from My sabbaths, and I am profaned among them. 27) Her princes within her are like wolves tearing the prey, by shedding blood and destroying lives in order to get dishonest gain. 28) Her prophets have smeared whitewash for them, seeing false visions and divining lies for them, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord God,’ when the Lord has not spoken. 29) The people of the land have practiced oppression and committed robbery, and they have wronged the poor and needy and have oppressed the sojourner without justice. 30) I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found no one.

Ezekiel 22:26-30

Morality without the cross

Knowing what we have discovered about secular religious power in religious hands we ought to be far more cautious about reinventing the wheel.  The trial of Jesus by a religious court provides convincing evidence that injustice can acquire the label and reputation of justice.  We can add nothing to the doctrines of Moses or Jesus and mixing the two is bound to result in wasting the two.

You shall not add to the word that I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God that I command you. Deut. 4:2,

I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, (Rev. 22:18)  and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book. (Rev. 22:19)

Rev. 22:18-19

Nor do people put new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the wineskins burst, and the wine pours out and the wineskins are ruined; but they put new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved.”

Matthew 9:17

The persecution of the church

In John 5:16 we see the Jews persecuting Jesus, because He was doing good things on the Sabbath.  In Acts we see the persecution of Jesus’s disciples continues the church for calling on and preaching Jesus’s name.   Perhaps it is James and the Pharisees who are the persecutors of the church.  Judaism has never sustained a sense of morality.  It only knew how to engage in power plays: prosecuting violators of the law, keeping aliens as second class citizens, and discriminating against women.  Perfection and maturity are not the outcomes of law; law lets people know what sin they have committed, it condemns everyone without exception and predicts it’s own demise.

The way and the life

Since Christ personally takes the reins of God’s kingdom from the levitical system complete with a change of law, how can life of the redeemed (the converted) ever be shaped by dead works?   Death and condemnation are not affirmed by the ritual law…  Death sentences appear all over the law: for incest, sorcery, gluttony, rebellious children and many prohibitions (“you shall not…”) regarding festivals, and food and drink.   We could believe that the law has nothing to do with moral behaviour or lifesaving obligations, but how can the cross not be elevated above the hills because of the freedom from death it brings?  How can the cross not be the spice that flavors the life it brings if we believe that it does something the law could never do? Where is “what he’s done for others he’ll do for you” when you need one?

The evangelical world rejects the idea that the Law is perfect by rejecting the Sabbath and the rituals for sacrifice and festivals.   If the law needs an improvement for the protection of women’s inheritance rights it is neither whole nor perfect.  A Jew will rightly not accept the unraveling of the law into moral and ritual.  Christians know that defining sin is not what Christ came to do.  He came to abolish death and bring life and immortality to light through the gospel. If you think that the gospel is inadequate as a moral standard you will remain excited about pig’s mud, dog’s vomit, and give the nod to oppression of the poor and needy.
